Have you played a Geddy?
Yes it is just a Jazz, but the neck is what sets it apart. And either you like it or you don't. I like it, but I like the standard Jazz neck profile as well. And there was a time the CIJ basses were fantastically cheap price for the quality you got.
i don't understand what is so great about it

Kind of like your thread-making skills..![]()
I played about 10 Geddy Lee signature basses ... only one was a good player ...
I played one at GC and a shecter 004 killed it in sound and playability so I had to buy it. Ended up walking out with the best playing bass I could find in the whole place for just $449.00.

I've only played one Geddy Lee Sig bass and I bought it on the spot. It played really well and sounded nice. The Geddy got me back into passive basses.
I have played, in music stores, the Standard Jazz, American Jazz, Squier Jazz, and the Geddy Lee.
I was never too excited about any jazz, playability-wise, but as soon as I played the Geddy I decided that will be my next bass - it's on my GAS list! The thinner (front to back) neck makes ALL the difference. I hear they may be coming out with a sunburst - I sure hope so. I believe Geddy himself has one that is translucent red (saw it in Bass Player mag); I would LOVE to have that bass.
