Nope, not kidding. Kiss sold more records, played more shows, sold more merchandise, lasted longer, and had a bigger impact.

This isn't about age, what you are displaying is known as a 'favorite band' . Yours happens to be The Beatles. You know all their stuff inside out, you don't believe anyone can possibly have changed the face of music as much as they have or ever come close to being as good as they are. Along with that you believe no-one else can possibly love them as much as you do. This makes you quite irrational if anyone challenges any of this.


I feel the same about my favorite band. Just enjoy them!

and how does being alive when something was popular give you a better idea of the music? if anything it would give you bias

I'm 58 too and play in a Pop/Sleeze LA Style Rock Band.

I like the guys and the material rocks and it's hot. However, we don't have a common musical history.

I know they are to young to understand or appreciate my generations music (I still think The Kinks kiss a$$). And they know I am to old to appreciate the music they grew up with. Mutual respect, leave at that.

Well of course the Kinks kick ass. I don't think I've met anyone that doesn't know this. IMO, they may not understand or appreciate our generation's music, but it isn't because they are too young to do so.

I hope I am never asked to play metal and I am never playing Brick House at a Holiday Inn.

I will play Brick House any time any place.

I bet that if i had been born in 1923 instead of 1953, I would understand ,relate to and would have liked the music of Count Basie and Duke Ellington a lot more than I do.

Thats fine, music hits all of us in different ways. If Bick house makes you happy then it's all good.

Me, i even have an issue with the caliber of patron that wants to hear Brick House. But thats just me.

I think music can reach across cultures and times, you just have to be open to it. It CAN impact you even if you weren't around for that style's heyday. At one point in time, even Mozart was 'popular music.' It still resonates with people if you can get them to concentrate on it for a while.

If you categorically dismiss genres of music then you are just closing off your mind to new experiences. Loosen up and enjoy it!

The Beatles were influenced by Chuck & Buddy.However, it doesn't change the fact that no other band or Artist changed the face of music like The Beatles did. Not even Elvis.Nobody had ever put a package togther like The Beatles

This is very different argument than your original, obviously incorrect statement, "Nobody had seen young guys singing with electric guitars and drums until they came along."

I hate to be a d*%che about this, but as a Baby Boomer and Beatles fanatic, this is a position I am not going to back off or concede anything. Elvis had a huge impact on Pop Music as well as many others. However none were as big as The Beatles.

Interesting that all of jives support come from TBers that are to young to have a valid opinion or guys my age that were never huge fans of The Beatles.

One thing I will concede to jive is his above average spelling and use of grammar

Brian had a lot of problems, my theory is that when the Beatles decided to stop performing live, he gave up on life.

Even with his problems and the fact that Apple failed their management at the time was better than anything anyone else had.

Laughing is fine, it’s good for you. However, at the same time I must say I am not sure you have the background to understand my logic in the sense of how all this evolved.

jive, I guess thats why when The Beatles catalog became available on iTunes it almost shut down the whole store.

Kiss has not sold more of anything including lunch boxes than The Beatles.

This guy, this guy, is another smart guy, he's right. I am overly protective of The Beatles and that ain't gonna change.
