As much as I love cool preamps, I am still in my honeymoon with the SLO. I am just shocked at how good it sounds and the features it has.

I'm currently testing units for my backup that I carry in my bag. I have a TC SpectraDrive coming. Gonna play with it and all of its TonePrint goodness. I'd use it for a backup and for a practice rig if I'm traveling and want to take a bass with me. Of course I could use the SLO for that too.

I do not know if anyone has seen/heard this video - Noble, Sans Amp, Tone Hammer and Dark Glass VD, Kinda impressed with how the Dark Glass Vintage held up with the Noble and Tone Hammer, the Sans Amp just did not sound tubey at all to me - I was wearing headphones with volume turned up to listen to them all.

I tried the Darkglass and it wasn't my cup of tea. Lots of folks love them, but I couldn't get the "tone in my head" from the Darkglass. So far only the Noble, Shaw, and SLO have given me the tone I seek. It's odd how VASTLY different preamps sound. I've never cared for anything Tech21 makes with the exception of the Q/Strip and Bass Fly Rig. All the Sansamp pedals left me wanting. Even the "vintage" flavored ones were not good to me. But lots of folks use them with great success...so there may be a problem between the the bass and the chair. LOL!

Harley Benton Custom Line Bass DI Expander

I broke down and bought the Mozztonics. I have their OC-2 compressor right now and find it very good... so the preamp has me interested.

I'm curious who is using the RNDI (Rupert Neve DI) with active basses or after a preamp pedal? Any issues? I'd typically go with a passive DI for a bass with preamp (or pedal preamp) but hear so many good things about the RNDI...

Welp....it seems as if the SLO has just ruined other preamps for me.

I got the SpectraDrive today...hooked it up. Tweaked and twisted the knobs. Played with the Toneprints. Just like the others I've tested it sounded good. I was able to get a good tone. But not the tone I want.

I A/Bed it against the SLO and there really was no contest.

The Noble and the Shaw were awesome but they are also more expensive that the SLO and in a mix you won't hear the difference.

So far nothing has impressed me enough to dethrone the SLO.

with the SLO can you turn the cab sim off ? I think if I put it in front of a power amp / cabinet I'd want that turned off

Has anyone compared the SLO to the Starlifter? I know they are 2 different animals but wanted to see if anyone could give me their thoughts about how they compare against each other.

Oooooo aussie aussie aussie! Why have i only just seen this pedal now? Can't wait to hear your feedback on it. I might even get one for myself before I hear from you. The price here down under is super affordable for such a pedal.(As in i could sell my second hand vt bass DI and not have to add much at all) I might have to add a LPF though as no speaker sim is the only downfall.

I have the Mozztronics Compressor and Bass Fuzz right now and like both of them so I have high hopes for the Mozztronics Bass Preamp.
