Late 1980's Larrivee 6 string fretless. Midnight blue color with gold hardware - all Schaller with EMGs. Neck-through body. Was made to order for me. Had to sell it to have a place to live when I got divorced. Can't even find a picture now. I think of it often. It was truly beautiful and a very unique instrument. Without fail every day I look through E-Bay and once a week I do a Net search just in case i run across it.

I bought this bass in 1986 from the original owner and in
1988, like a fool, I traded it for a 1966 CAR Jazz bass that never sounded good and really didn't play that well.
I was in a "vintage frenzy" at the time and let her get away. One of the best sounding basses I've ever owned and really was a sweet playing axe as well. The shop I traded it to in Newport, RI sold her to a guy who was in the US Navy band stationed there in Newport. It left town with him shortly thereafter. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. )-(
Yeah, I dumped a Sabre bass, too. 1980 - sunburst to boot!
The 25-year-old active wiring was getting funky and I didn't want to mess with it. Still, that thing had some "chi" for sure. As close as I'll ever get to an original Leo Fender relic.
This thread scares me.
Bought a Brice HVB-600 about 18 months ago and started learning to play. Now have a G&L L2K and an SX short-scale. Rarely play the Brice and have been contemplating trading the Brice in for a 5-string.
Have been feeling I'll regret getting rid of the Brice and then this thread pops up. Sheesh. What to do? What to do?

I miss my first Tobias, but now that I have a Classic I can let that go.
But I'd love to find my John Hawk bass.
No photos that I know of.
It looks like a Dean Brian Bromberg (surprisingly - that bass hadn't been designed nor released when John and I designed this bass).
Same hawk shaped headstock, same "both horns are pointy and both point downward" look.
4 string, neck through, Koa body, maple neck, Seymour Duncan Humbuckers. Thick slab of ebony for the neck.
I'd love to find that bass again.

I thought that this might be fun. A good many of us have that 'one bass that got away.' Maybe if we all post pics of our dearly missed basses, someone could become reunited.
Tell us where you last had it, and any other info that may help.
Here's mine:
It's an early prototype 34" scale Lakland 5594. It has the smaller Bart pickups. It was super light weight. Maybe 7 1/2 lbs. The last I saw it was when I was boxing it up to send to The Low End to put out on consignment.
It has alot of wear and a tone of dings and dents.
Any info on it's where-abouts??
LOL, I searched my local craigslist for fun - best I could do, but pretty damn close, cept for the RW fretboard...
