The hum stops when I touch the strings

Sound guy we know came and did sound at a multiband event we headlined last summer. One of the bands got up there and we were helping all we could as we provided a backline. The lead singer/guitar pulls out the pedalboard and it is a collection of about 20 very cheap pedals that looked like they had been at the bottom of the Titanic for a few years and they were all over the place on the board turning over, just kind of thrown on there and wires just going everywhere. I went and talked to the sound guy and said, good luck with this one 🤣 .

Sound guy was at his wits end before and during their set. First they couldn't get sound. Guitar player: don't know what's wrong this never happens.

He decides to use backline amp. Got sound, now buzz, crack, buzzzzzzzz, no sound. I don't know what's wrong this never happens.

Just goes on and on and they kept stopping to tune by ear after almost every song. I'm like, how in the hell do you not have a tuner pedal with all that other junk up there 🤣.
