The Ibanez Club (Part 3)

::sigh::

So my SR4005's treble control seems to have died (and to be stuck in a slightly-cutting position). I'll contact the website I bought the instrument from sometime this week (it came with a 5-year warranty), which I'm sure is going to be a lovely experience, because that site? Was bought out by another one a year ago. If they answer my request, I'll probably have to send the bass back to them (I doubt they'll accept my sending just the preamp I want replaced, but I'll try asking anyway), which is likely to mean I'll be without my only instrument for a month or so (optimistic estimate).

I might give in to the GAS and get a backup bass before doing that, but it just doesn't feel the same when it's (semi-)forced. :/

Put us down for a number please!

...my crankin' 800LE- would have to be my fav Ibby right now.

Sadly, it's not the pot. The neat thing about the PWC-3 system is that the circuit board is linked to the controls via clip-on wires, so switching around the bass and treble pots takes less than 30 seconds (which could be useful if you want MTD-style, reversed EQ controls). I did so, and the pot works fine. Changing the batteries didn't help either, so I'm left with the conclusion that the circuit board is the problem.

Another option I considered is to change the electronics. I wouldn't mind putting an Audere 3ZB in there (3-volt electronics aren't that great an idea anyway, you need to change the batteries way too often), but the SR's control cavity is rather small. I'm not certain it'd fit. Has anybody tried it?

hey guys, I have a sr200 with the 4 knobs which "HAD" the phat2 in it till I threw it away and put a standard 2band in there. Ok fine, but I'm buying a sr300 and saw the 3 knobs and said..hmm is it vol/bal and Bas/Tre on the stack?

or is it just some other version of that crummy phat2 mid-boost junk?

The SR300 has the EQBIII in it, basically your average style sweeper 3 band eq....but way better than the phat2's found on the 200's.

So as it turns out, that's exactly what I just did. Realized I hadn't gotten myself a ridiculously cool music gift for Christmas, and since my finances allowed it (being single and without kids sometimes has its perks :smug: ), I ordered an SRX-725.

You can, of course, expect pics (and maybe even a sound sample or two) when I get it sometime next week. :bassist:

I was just offered an SR800 with a SKB case and a Peavey 1810 cab for $300. Come on tax return
Find the money.pronto, sell a kidney or rob a bank if need be........i own both, the Peavey was my first rig ever(1810 cab and a Peavey mk111 bass head, with my Ibby 800le ,when cranked up was punchy,****ing ear destroying actually....300 bucks is well worth it m8.

I'd suggest an EMG P/J set (perhaps with an EQ unit while you're at it), but the problem is that most good pickups you'll want to install (those included) cost more than the bass itself.
Aha... Actually, i've already changed the neck pickups for an EMG P-HZ middle pickup... Which wasnt a good idea, at least it sounds almost worst than the factory pickup.

in my gsr200 I actually spent less than 20 bucks to make it sound better.. no pickups, but I threw that phat2 out as soon as I played it for 10 minutes--yuk.
changed it out for an old 2band pre which I had bought 10 off of a guy who was selling old guitar store NOS stock.

no hiss or buzz and here's a pic of how it fits in the cavity:

Hey guys and gals.
My 79 rs 900 is supposed to have a quadralock neck plate, but it doesnt. It has a regular old 4 bolt silver plate that has the serial and made in japan on it. Here is the serial
F791952
Is my bass missing a part that was replaced with something else?
