The Ibanez Club (Part 6)

I missed the SRC6MS, so I'll have to sell something to afford that too. However, I've literally dreamt about a bass that looks a whole lot like this...

I've been wanting to get either a Premium BTB or EHB 6 for a while, but this one really caught my eye. Can't decide if I love or hate that upper "horn", though, it looks huge. Anyone here who owns a SC BTB that could comment on how it feels ergonomics-wise?

I've used the 5 string 1st iteration of that BTB Single Cut, the BTB685SC Terra Firma, as my main bass ever since I got it 7+ years ago.

Ergonomics-wise, it inherited the same problem of the BTB lines which to some players the BTB elbow corner felt sharp, despite already beveled. And this has nothing to do with the SC body. On the subject of the SC body, it's literally the bass that body resonance I can feel in my chest.

Maybe...

... then you post an SR5006, so, OK.

Sweet bass. Welcome.

awesome thanks!! Yeah, I pulled the trigger on the sr5006. It’s actually nicer than I expected. Action is amazing, and feels even across the fingerboard.

A couple of Prestige RGD's got Richlite tops over the last few years, but it's nice to see them start to use it on fingerboards. I would have gone with black, but hey, why not?

Huh. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Sweetwater's page about it said it has an ebony board.

I think the blue board is cool, but iirc ebony is harder than Richlite, so I think I would have preferred ebony. Although maybe the Richlite has a poly coating.

Thank you and nice bass! I've never owned a BTB, only SRs, but in my experience trying them (a couple 6ers from different eras) that sharp edge didn't seem to bother me. As for the SC body, I guess I need to see one in person to decide...

What I do know for sure is that I want my next one to be either a BTB or EHB because, while I love the playability of my SR, I seem to be more comfortable playing basses with a bigger body shape, specially live/standing. The SR feels a bit small for me.

Man, wish that SRC was 4 string.
Anything is possible for Ibanez Bass Workshop line, although it would be no longer within the Crossover theme. The SRC is meant as the Crossover instrument for a guitarist wanting to go to the bass player theritory or a bassist wanting to go to the guitar player area, hence, the 6 strings, tight 10.8mm spacing, and EADGBE tuning.

I tried tuning my 7 string bass BEADGBE cause I wanted to play chords using guitarist finger positionings, but it didn't last long. Despite the BTB7 has the needed tight string spacing, the 15.5mm spacing just wasn't tight enough for guitarist style chord finger positionings. Thus, it led me to get an SRC6, which I still keep for years despite being the least played bass in my arsenals.

Would I get the SRC6MS? Maybe, but probably not, as I've learned that chording is not exactly easy on a multi-scale instrument.
