The Illustrated Case

My Charvel Surfcaster Acoustic came to me with stickers on the case. A few for radio station 91X (New Wave/Alternative out of San Diego - think Richard Blade/XM "Next Wave"/KROQ) and a Depeche Mode.

Which are kind of interesting considering it's an AEB.

40 years of stories, stage passes, Dead shows, you name it.....

Since so many of my cases look alike, I use stickers as a private code to tell me which instrument is inside. I wouldn't want to have a piece of duck tape magic marker'd with "66 P-Bass" on a case, that would then scream "rip me off", but the 'Mooer' sticker lets me know what's in there. The best part is putting stickers from high-end companies on the case that has the SX.

I had a plain black case that came with my 1978 Schecter P-bass. This was my case for gigging.
So, one day, I'm playing an outdoor fest...I break a string (the E-string)...stage guys want to assist. I'm yelling "...my case has strings, it's the black one. The black one, the black one"!!!
I wonder over to see WTH is the problem.
Oh, about 30 black cases are lined up.
I started putting hockey stickers on that case...that night.

Speaking of stories, the sticker below used to be a bumper sticker for Community Loudspeakers that said "We'll blow your doors off."

But over the years wear and tear on this hard-gigged bass case resulted in an incremental, progressive shortening of that logo. First it was "we'll blow your doors" and then "we'll blow your do" and then (I swear) "we'll blow you" and then, finally, "we'll blow."

Always good for a laugh before the show.
