Waiting for a 5-string Dingwall ABI, passive with three FDV pickups. 6 months down, 18 to go.
Starting to wonder if I should switch to an Effigy, a 6 string, or a fretless because I acquired a used 5-string passive ABI shortly after placing my order. Variety and spice and all that.

I'm on the Wal waitlist for the waitlist, as I emailed to be added, I expect to maybe be able to discuss build specs in ~3 years, if they ever get through their current backlog.
Debating about joining the waitlist for a Fodera, after playing one that I absolutely loved recently, but with import fees to the EU, I'm not sure it's worth it. For reference my rough calculations had it at around ~6540€, ($7600) after import fees for a Ying Yang Standard ($5650 directly from Fodera), Thomann the EU Dealer, has it available to order for 8090€ ($9422), so it's even pricier through them.

I’m in the queue for another 30” bordwell 4 string. This one will be fretted, 3 dagstar bisonic pickups, roasted maple neck and fretboard, Dola body shape, and this top:

What is that material? Some sort of wood that's been treated with resin?
I spoke with Cliff after my last build arrived and before he left for Thailand, and we already have plans for a simple singlecut with the lightest alder he can source, a top I provide and a 33" lined fretless pink ivorywood board, Trickfish dual coils, passive, coil switching.
I too am waiting for the very same! I tout shortscales a lot, but I have realized medium is even better and I'm starting to replace basses with 32s.
Full disclosure: even though the Thunderhorse came about in collaboration between McGrath and our channel, I'm not getting the bass for free. I did the onsite bass builder, Cormac gave me a quote that sounded great, and I paid it. I also asked him to use specific tuners so there was a little variation from SOP there (regular reminder that Gotoh 350s are even lighter weight than Hipshot ultralites, kids!)

My brother, if you're willing to take the dive on trust, check out 33" scale. Truly the best of all worlds, IMO. Once you go 33, it's REALLY hard to go back..

Just placed the deposit on a 5-string Fodera 33” Monarch P/HB, narrow/slim/fast neck.
well, they ARE way harder to find, but i do trust. Even a Ric is 33 and change! Cliff Bordwell or Shawn May...reach out, plunk down some wampum, tell them what you want in a 33, and let them massage everything else. Seriously, 2 of the best guys in the game, IMO.

Oh I've drooled over a Bordwell or two over the years =0) fo sho.
I've ordered 2 other customs from Rob and the lead time was 16 weeks... almost to the day each time. I've always been impressed at how well he hits his marks, especially considering the fact that he personally hand-carves the instruments. No C&C machines in his process.
This particular instance is very out of the ordinary for him. I guess moving his entire shop is a fairly daunting task.
My wife and I are in the process of planning our retirement spot, and Spain/Portugal are HIGH on the list! Rob is smart. The USA is tough for small luthiers, to say the least. We spent a few weeks in Spain and Southern France in January...America ain't doing life right, IMO. Life is much slower, calmer....just less BS entirely. I cannot wait!
fwiw the elapsed time between when I sent an email to Wal requesting I be added to the official Wait List, and the time Paul reached out to me to say "You're on the list now, and I can have a new instrument for you later next year" was four-and-a-half years.
I'll probably kick myself for this some day, but after several lengthy and informative email exchanges with Paul, I ultimately decided not to proceed with ordering a new Wal.
That is impressively fast for a hand carved model. I wonder if Elrick's will see a surge in popularity here in Europe, as presumably they won't be subject to import duties etc anymore if they're now being built in Spain.
At this point I'm of the mindset that if it happens, it happens, if my time comes up, and I've not got the funds, or found something else that scratches the itch, or whatever, then so be it. If it comes up and the timing is right, then I'll get my 6 string MK3 fretless.
