It seriously pissed me off when he started singin. The song sounded bad ass and he f*ckin ruined it. Lol -1 for James Labrie.

Even though I'm long past listening to DT, I'll still admit that apart from the "high" part of "Take The Time", I've always hated LaBrie's voice. 
Yeah, that's correct. It was obvious he was never happy with the Yamaha. For one, when he used it live, he would add a second pickup (near the bridge) to get a different sound.
He is an amazing bassist.
Personally, I love male falsetto. James Labrie's vocals fit with this music. I can't imagine Dream Theater with anyone else. IMHO of course.
Yeah, except Portnoy can't stand Tate. They had a war of words going a couple years back. Don't know if they've patched things up or not. Still, you're correct, that would be awesome.

Portnoy was probably mad because Queensryche have always had better bass tone on their records!
I think its pretty funny how this is one of LaBrie's best live performances (IMO) and it still gets bashed.
On topic, Myung is for sure one of my favourite bass players and I love his Green Yamaha he used on Live Scenes From New York.

Well, I'm not a big fan of his live performances, but I should at least mention that this song was written with a different (kind of) vocalist in mind.
As for Myung, I used to be a huge fan about ten years ago. I'm not one of the many people who think that DT haven't released anything worthwhile since, but I really think that their "write and record in the studio" approach doesn't seem to go well with Myung's way of working. He used to be a pretty inventive bassist, but it seems he really needed the time he had back in the days to come up with those parts. Now most of his parts seem rather underdeveloped, way too often just doubling the guitar parts.
Oh yeah, I've always been quite happy with his signature six string bass (except for slapping).

I CAN hear the potential; almost Bruce Dickinson-ish. However, Bruce is a WAY better singer. Too bad

Yeah John Myung is a great player who often gets buried in the mix in some studio and live situations. But since this thread is now more about James Labrie, I will add my two cents about him. Although I feel his voice works for the bands sound, his voice in live situations is very much hit and miss (I've seen them live twice and he was actually pretty solid both times). In the studio, however, one recording of his which I admire his vocal work is on Innocence Faded from Awake.
