I think I remember someone getting a new nut from Ken a good while ago. I think that if you can contact the man, he can fix you up.Do you guys know if the nut of the truss rod is removable/replaceable? (Pure curiosity, everything is fine)

I had to have a truss rod nut replaced on a BSR6M. Unfortunately, when I bought the bass used, the previous owner did not disclose that the nut was already wrecked. I sent the bass to Ken. Thankfully, after what he called “surgery,” he was able to get the old nut off and replace it with a new one. The truss rod was able to be adjusted thereafter.
I am about to be in a job transitional phase and will be unloading a bass or two. My 2017 white tiger elite 5 bsr will be up for sale. I will be listing it at 7000 but am a little flexible on pricing.

From what I understand all the basses still cross Ken's setup table, so I would assume he's happy with the quality considering how particular he is.
If I heard correctly, the finish has changed.
It is now a semi-gloss poly mix. Before it was a Smith secret sauce that was an oil finish. Poly is easier to care for and more durable, so I’m not going to say that it is of less quality. Some would say it’s better. (But I prefer the older finish on my bass.
Some slight design changes resulting of different building methods, I guess. A few visual differences here and there. Less options and other wood combinations than what is used to be. Less production with little to none ordering possibilities. Same hardware and electronics so tone wise I believe nothing has changed. I assume quality stayed similar.
I just scored a SWEET 2004 BSR EG and it's so new that I don't even know what those letters stand for.

BSR is the body style and EG stands for Elite “G” graphite in the neck I think but that is the top of the line Ken Smith….

i have a nice 7+7 six string here with mahogany core and maple top. it's sweet! i also have a solid body chuck rainey. they both sound similar and awesome.
