Hopefully one of you experts can help me.

Looking at a Vintage Ken Smith...Questions...

"No expert" disclaimer, but from the head stock looks 80's. If you could look at
(but probably cannot get access to) the back of the electronics control plate, it
usually notes production date and model. I thought Badass bridges were branded
as such. The pickups do look G&L. All of which could likely be restored to OEM.
Absolutely beautiful instrument; only the break in the center strip back of the
head stock is curious. Maybe a production second. Probably the bass plays and
sounds like a million bucks, but I wouldn't pay that for it. Again- objective observation.

Never heard of that. I always thought that only the Black Tiger had the flame maple core, and the White Tiger only had the walnut core.

Here's a comparison between a Fodera Emperor Standard 6, a Ken Smith Black Tiger and a Fender Standard Jazz Bass. I loved the way the Smith sounds in the chorus, though. Check it out!
