The late Nico Assumpcao

I’m wondering if anyone has or knows any information on the late Brazilian bassist Nico Assumpcao. I saw a clip of him playing via Scott’s bass lessons. Nico was absolutely ferocious on bass! He had a Patitucci type tone in his playing, but definitely his own vocabulary. This guy was, in my opinion, as great as they come. But being that he passed away in 2001, I’ve found little to no info on him regarding gear, what he played… I found a discography, but a lot of it is unavailable. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have some Ricardo Silveira albums from the '80s...that was my intro to Nico. Kinda reminded me a little of Jaco but with huge slap/pop chops.

Close-ups of his bass. Can't help you, it appears to be a boutique/high end instrument.

I saw him once with Milton Nascimento, and I'm pretty sure he was playing a Ken Smith.

I saw him on upright bass with Joe Henderson in the mid 90’s. He was definitely a monster player. Again, like Patitucci, he was equally great on upright and electric.
