The little things…

Children and grandchildren. I don’t have a lot, but the ones I have are terrific.
Pets. Cats, in my case, but I love all animals. Except snakes and gators.
Playing music.
Listening to music.
Camping.
Golfing (sometimes)
Ice hockey. Watching and playing.
Really good craft beer.
Shooting stars and northern lights.
Beaches.
Forests.
Mountains.
Birds.
Sunsets.

Seeing someone being kind. It just kindles a warm place inside.

Our house diva, Missy the 15 lbs cat. She is the neediest creature ever, but she has a way of saying "thank you" with her eyes that never fails to impress.

Practicing with my eyes closed and "going somewhere" for a time.

Hearing myself harmonizing while singing to whatever I'm listening to. It's rare I'm "right on" but magic when I am.

This time of year, stepping out around now actually (it's currently 12:30ish) and just looking at the night sky in the crisp air. The other night I was rewarded with Neptune and Venus dominating the mid horizon for several hours. I feel very small, and quite in awe when I do this.

Comfort food. A dangerous thing, I know, but little else can bring the joy of eating a food your grandmother made for you as a kid. I've perfected a few dishes of hers down the years and they are dear to me.

Making all the lights on whatever drive you're on.

Tinkering. I just like fussing about with mechanical things.

In that vein I enjoy watching others craft things. I'm fairly addicted to shows like Forged in Fire, Metal Shop Masters, Blown Away and nearly every cooking show imaginable. I don't watch normal shows. Pop Culture shows hold no interest for me but I can watch the others I've listed over and over.

Finishing a great book. Reading in general, really.

My kids. They’re 5 1/2 and 4. They’re still at that age where most everything is a wonder to them and the weight of the world is still foreign to them. Hearing them laugh when playing with simple balsa wood gliders in the backyard is priceless!

Autumn- the crispness in the air, watching the leaves turn colors and the smell in the air. I love it!

Standing in the middle of a remote stream or river with a fly rod in hand. Just listening to the sound of water and the nature around me. Catching a fish is just the icing on the cake.

Watching a good movie on a snowy night. The family all on the sofa, including the dog blissfully snoring away.

All of the things you listed in your post are good, but I'm especially with you on these four things.

Speaking of books...there's a thrift store where I've donated several items over several years that always seems to have used books that interest me. I've bought many books from them, and they usually cost about $1.50-$2.00. I'm currently reading a book I bought from that thrift store.

I taught Pre-K (4- and 5-year-olds) for 30+ years. I know exactly what you mean!

Looking at the night sky through a telescope or binoculars.
I use a StarMap app and gander at the planets. Texas, even here in Plano, has a very nice Star-planet pattern almost year-round. I guess I could look for a decent telescope used with a tripod.

'I have very nice binoculars but I'm wobbly.
