The Lowend is almost done!

Sorry for the trick picture, it is a 5 string, but the bridge was something Chris had laying around that was gold, to show how it would look.

The 6 string neck is very comfortable, but it is not a narrow neck. Its wider string spacing like we use on our Benavente’s. Same bridge and all on the LEJ basses.

There are many great Jazz basses on the market. I do feel my Jazz bass is quite different with the 3 pc neck, yet still holding on to the traditional look. Honestly I think a Jazz bass can come in many different looks and body styles. A Jazz bass in terms of sound could be a Single cut bolt-on with 20 frets and Jazz setup pickups to a Fender traditional jazz bass. I think what makes a Jazz in the pickups and placement to the number of frets which has an affect on the sound as well as being a Bolt-on. A 24 frett bass with a Jazz body is very different then a standard traditional Jazz bass. This is also why I wanted to keep the standard 20 frets and not raise it to 22 or 24.

With the LEJ bass we used a 3 pc neck for strength and to help especially with the 5-7 string’s. Also we used the best Pickups and preamp on the market....... :) and then offered custom options for the customer and all at a price that is really insane for a custom instrument. This is a Custom instrument, but its a custom Jazz.

Okay, I'll stop. But in any case, this just shows what a great conversation piece the Low End logo is. And anything that gets people talking is good in my book, since I believe there is no such thing as 'bad' publicity.

Oh, and thanks for the prompt response, and humoring my queries, Brian. Will these Low End Jazz basses built by Benavente be a limited time thing or a more permanent fixture in the Low End lineup?

They are a permanent fixture in the LowEnd line. The Preamp is very much underway, which a number of people have been waiting for. I will have the True-voice at NAMM.

Hey Brian, I just wanna say that the headstock on these things would have to the most aesthetically pleasing shape and form that I have ever seen on a bass. I genuinely like it a lot and am now thinking of getting a 5 string to bridge the gap between my 4 and 6 string basses. Seriously, I think you have done better than anyone could have hoped with modernising a classic as far as looks go. I really would like to hear and play one though...

Thanks, So you're saying that certain parameters (specifically pup style, pup placement, # of frets, bolt on, and body shape) left unchanged will yield a product closer to the original. Another luthier said the same thing about the number of frets having an impact on the sound.

Sounds good to me. When you first introduced the J-Low, I thought, "Why?" Now I understand. Good idea... :cool:
