...I decided to try mixing my own shellac and spraying it.
 
Well, because I can, but also because I tried some aerosol shellac for dyed wood (to avoid smearing) and it actually looked really nice even on the undyed parts.

But it doesn’t have to be sprayed. People say mixing your own makes better results anyway, so I’m going to find out.
