I didn't mean to sound like i was saying TMV and Tool fans are all musicians, because clearly they're not haha. I'm just saying that alot of people out there who aren't musicians, I know I've spoken to a few people, seem to put the complete randomness and obscureness of things like time signatures down as a reason why they don't like the bands. Things like this (crazy time sigs and ambiant noise breaks), IMHO seem to sound alot clearer and are somewhat more acceptable to musicians, but thats just my opinion.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what time signatures are you talking about with The Mars Votla? If I'm not mistaken, 9/10 times they're in 4.

Other than that, the noise breaks are simply annoying.

Marcus Alan, sir, you are a giant dick. If you're not a fan of this band why must you bother posting, especially since everyone of your posts has been a quote that a fan of the band has said earlier.

Most of their songs are in four, though, I will agree. They just use a lot of polyrhythms. And yes, it is art.

The mars volta are my very favorite bands. I own Deloused, Scabdates, Frances the Mute, The Live EP, The Tremulent Ep, Frances The Mute the Single, and L' Via l'Viaquez ep. I am trying too seak out the old DeFacto recordings. Defacto was Omar and Cedrics regae/psychodelic side project during ATD-I where they played with Ikey Owens (the current keys player of the volta).

I plan on flying down too the lower 48 next summer with a few friends too see them as they will never ever end up coming up hear. (well mabey if I wish hard enough)

Great band, very talented. I would love to be in a band like that. If you like the volta you should also check out the band "coheed and cambria", more straght forward than the volta. Coheed and cambria has been called this gennerations rush.

I just watched Letterman tonight and I saw this band WolfMother and everyone should definitely check them out... everyone for 70s rock addicts to the most modern stuff

Yeah they write some pretty cathcy songs but ain't nothing compared to The Mars Volta in my opinion. Not to over exxagerate but De-Loused is one of the best albums of the last 5-10 years.
