If you were to put brand new strings on both basses, and run the M5V in passive mode, would they be equally snappy?

Might be a good experiment before you going digging around in cavities.

Did that experiment and the V5 is still snappier. It has an ash body/maple neck vs. the M5V's alder/rosewood setup.

I'm leaning more towards selling the M5V and getting an Audere drop-in preamp for the V5. That way, nothing on the body is altered in case i want to go back to passive. The proceeds from the sale will be saved until I get enough cash to order my T5.

I prefer ash/maple myself. Dude, you've answered your own question! :-)

T5! T5!

Quick update on my dreamsicle/Giants bass...

It's back in the House of Lull for another modification....this time involving a router. Mike is installing a P pickup in the neck position, but I'll retain the option to go back to the JJ config, with quick-connects on both the new P and old J pickups, and of course a new P pick guard to go with the current one. I'm excited.

Smart with the quick-connects. options are always good. Enjoy the new beefy P! This may become your new favorite.

Yes. I've played it. It's excellent.

Congratulations to the buyer of this bass! I played it twice when I was in San Diego a while back but just could not pull the trigger as I had just recently purchased a Roscoe 3005 and didn't know how to justify buying yet another fine instrument that exceeds my skill level by so much so quickly. After a while I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to just go ahead and do it, only to discover that it had been sold a couple of hours before... I think its a fantastic instrument and hope it works out for you... however if it doesn't you should let me know first!

Ha, this is funny. I had been in talks with bass sandiego on this as well and didn't pull the trigger. The day I was going to, it was gone. I told bass san diego to pass along my info to the new owner, so step to the back of the line;)

I had made a low ball offer a couple of weeks before as well, when I was still vacillating about it... does that move me up the que? Either way Bassray I think Saluki and I would agree on a ruling that from now forward you must refer to your Lull as "the one that almost wasn"t"

In the market for a used MV5 if any of you are thinking of letting your Lull go.

I have a MV5 in ash/rosewood that I wouldn't mind selling to fund a new speaker cab setup. PM me if you're interested. I have both the Lull softshell and hardshell case. It currently has Bart pickups with an Aguilar OBP-3, but I still have the Seymour Duncan SC's that came originally in it.
