I would urge you to try out the bass first. The stock electronics is usually working just right in the Mike's basses.

Of course, you are correct, but with my Lull M5V, I wanted something different.

A set of Nordstrand NJ5s Vintage 70s Wind and a Nord 2-band preamp was just the ticket.

And I'm pretty sure that no special wiring changes are necessary for the Nordstrand preamp (other than the extra wiring provisions for the 2nd battery). As the preamp comes, it will run at either 9V or 18V.

Yeah, that would typically be my logic. But this will be my 8th Lull that I've owned, so I'm pretty familiar with the pickups and pre's that Mike typically uses. I've always been interested in trying out a full Nordstrand system.

This is my 4th Lull with these pickups in them.
It is the sound that I identify to.
All of these basses sound a little different as well. Even my (2) identical TP5s are little different. The slightly heavier one is a touch brighter for sure.
However that core response of the Big Single is in all of them.

It's funny after "critiques" on certain Alinco pickups my guitarist for one of the projects I'm in said, I should just use them after hearing me go on anout such-and-such...

He was right...;)

When you find "your" pickups it makes all the difference! I have my EMG Geezer signature pups in 5 different basses.

Those things rock as well...They sound better when my daughter is playing them. She has them in a 30"
Short scale and she makes them sound great...
My Nine old who is in Gojira tribute band :roflmao: (or at least thinks so, some
of the guys I played with learned a bunch of their tunes to let her jam...)

In a few years I will bring her to NAMM so she can show Tal how it's done ;)
