The Mutron Club : only quacks allowed...

when slapping the Iron Ether sounds great and the Mu-Fx tends to sound very sharp and piercing.

I too've struggled a bit to tame Microtron for slap. After fiddling though (mostly lowering peak knob) and also upping the ratio of down-chain compression, I'm pretty happy with the results.

I've also had some issue getting post-filter dirt to sound right (pre-filter fuzz sounds great, as expected). With my setup (5th Gear V2), the Microtron's sweep will, at certain settings, spike/clip the dirt a bit too harshly for my tastes... giving each note an overly sharp, static attack. Again though, I've found settings to get around this (mostly lowering both peak and gain I believe) to get a good dirty vowel sound. Just requires some careful calibration.

Overall, I continue to be impressed by the Microtron's musicality, ease-of-use, and also more versatility than I expected. Although I do think some kind of speed/attack knob would be killer, I've also really enjoyed basically only needing to tweak two knobs to get a number of different, and almost always pleasing, quacks. Really looking forward to finally getting it out for September and October gigs... I do expect to be twisting the knobs quite a bit, but if it delivers as I'm expecting, I may stop shopping filters for foreseeable future.

Ive been in "pre-shipment" status since the 24th. I would have expected the pedal to have been received by the USPS by now. Cant imagine why a 4 day delay in pre-shipment. Hippy time labor isn't an excuse. MUFX claimed to have these shipped out within a week after Aug 11. Its almost September. Ill give it one more week then I'm moving on.....guess Ill just have to file a claim with paypal.

If my tracking doesn't show movement by Friday, I'm going to start a claim. It's not like these guys are new to business. This isn't their first rodeo. By now, you'd think they'd have a plan for a systematic approach at launching a new product. Again, I'm not going to get my briefs in a bunch over a fumbled product launch. It is wat it is. But nonetheless, I'm sure they can do better. I mean, it's not like they had to ship 3000 or 30000 units. We're talking 300 units. They should have a better handle 300 units. Even with it only being a handful of staff members.

Have you contacted them?

Just ordered an Emma Discombobulator v2. Don't plan on ever getting the MicroTron III and if I do I will be flipping it immediately . Can't trust them to have made this right when they can't even manage to get them shipped within a reasonable time frame. Mine has been in Pre shipping since the 24th also. Once you print the label all you have to do is put it on the box and get it picked up. I did read on another forum that they were actually still putting these together and testing them at this time.

WOW....I have literally done the same as you today. I ordered an Emma discobob v2 earlier this afternoon. Reverb had them 15% off through Godlyke. As far as pre-shipping is concerned.....I have a theory that the pre-shipping nonsense is just a coverup to pacify people long enough while they manufacture more units since they did send out an update that all units will be shipped within a week after the 11th. There must have been a SNAFU along the they are trying cover up. Im assuming I'll get the Emma discobob well before the microIII. If I like the discobob more than the EBS I have now, I won't even open the microIII. It will get flipped immediately.

Have you contacted them?

As mentioned earlier, I did try and reach out to them.......but after some thought, as a customer; why should I have to reach out to them after I have ordered the product. I mean, its pretty simple....I pay, you deliver/end. If you're not ready to sell/deliver/ship the goods, don't take my money. I would have assumed that when the website went live for purchase on these units, the units were on hand and ready for shipment. I mean, we're talking about a small batch....<300 pedals. How long should it really take to print out a shipping label and tape it to a box? If the delays are related to not having enough product to cover the orders, then don't take my money.

I get not wanting to have distributors. It means higher prices for customers and/or a middle man taking a chunk of change on each sale.

But if you are going to sell direct, it really helps to be clicking on all cylinders. I like what Taylor at Iron Ether moved to - a web store that only shows products that are available for immediate purchase.

I don't have any complaints with the Micro-Tron III as a pedal but I understand people getting upset by the waiting. I know I found it somewhat frustrating.

I get waiting for a pedal you know you have to wait for but if they have run into problems then at least post some info on your website so people that you have taken money from know what is going on. Yes if I ordered a pedal from a small builder and was told I had to pay up front and it would be a six month wait then I would decide if I wanted to do that or not. But that is not the case the website made it sound like they had everything ready to go and they would be shipped within a week of the 11th.
