Well the bluebox has always intrigued me, so I’ll watch this thread if it takes off.
First question: If you paint a Bluebox another color is it still a Bluebox?
I most likely will pick one up one day, but there are more pressing pedals on my pedal-dar at the moment. So I guess you could say I'm still on the fence.

Suffers from the major flaw of the volume control when fully turned up is just a touch below unity so there is no boost in it at all so it's difficult to get it to stand out as when you click it obviously you go quieter.

For those that want to know it takes your signal, fuzzes it up, then duplicates it two octaves down. You can control the output and also the mix between the dry signal and the effect. Using the 100% wet is quite an experience, but more recognizable sound will appear as the dry signal increases. The Blue Box is known for having a somewhat chaotic persona that can make each session of use a totally unique experience.

But since it tracks so poorly it randomly switches from 1 octave to 2 and makes all kinda weird blips etc which is it's charm but if you're looking for a fuzz pedal that adds massive bottom end and an octave down to your signal look elsewhere.

general note: i havent ever noticed a volume drop with mine. but then again, my settings are: Output:10 Blend: 5 and they have stayed like that since i got the pedal.

Your either not listening hard enough or you're not playing at volume.

Yeah, moog. Have you ever played with the Blue Box in a band setting? (or even at high volumes?) There are many fuzzes that sound great alone, but are really lacking when thrown into a mix. It can be a real deal breaker when you're searching for "your" fuzz.

I found a Buzz Box the other day for £49 and i loved it!!!! but i just didnt have the money on me.

+1, and for some reason it's always when I'm looking a BlueBox or a Buzzbox.

I've used it in live settings, but it's in the spaces where the others instruments aren't playing much and in the maximum noise sections. Most of the time I use it I also switch another OD/Dist/Fuzz on so the volume drop isn't so drastic and also for racket purposes

I actually got to try a Bluebox/Rat combo against the Buzzbox once, they are very close, I liked the Bluebox/rat a little better sound wise but thought the Buzzbox was more practical.
