The MXR Official Club

MXR M-108 10 Band EQ :) my l'ill secret on stage for my cutting thru growl and singin' highs :bassist:

Carbon Copy and Phase 90 (or 100.. still haven't decided)are on the GAS list.. and probably on the pedal board soon

So am I #42?? I'd love to have #44... it is a very special number for me :p

:hyper: yippiieeeee #44 :D

I said I was gasing for a phase 90 or 100. A very helpful low-end bro had given me feedback about both boxes. He says 100 can do 90 and more.. And 100 has some more head room to handle bass with respect to 90.. Well, I trust him ;)

I think I'll be ordering Phase 100 and Carbon Copy next month.. I just can't wait.. Someone please take me outta this GASsing state :hiding: I'm almost broke :p

Hi guys!

I have an mxr blowtorch, can i get a number?:) it's not in the best shape---the covers of the batteries have broken off, though its not a problem as i use it with an adapter anyways, and its the best sounding bass overdrive i've heard so far.
i also have a question: i use a bass with an active preamp, and though many settings sound nice when playing alone, they all turn out to be too fuzzed-out and disappear when i try to use them with my band. i guess this is due to the signal from my active bass overdriving the pedal too much. the only setting i found that works is: gain at zero, the switch on the side off, blend and eqs at max, volume in the middle (i hope you can picture it like this). i have tried turning the volume on my bass down, but that didn't seem to work. any advice? i'd really like to explore the possibilities of this pedal.

I've tried that pedal once and it sounded good with passive electronics.. When the fuzz dials in, it's usually a bit hard to keep the low-end into the mix.. maybe you can place an EQ after the blowtorch in your chain and boost a little the low freqs.. boosting 250HZ and 125 Hz would help....

Or. you can use a blender in order to add some fuzz over your original signal...

These 2 are what comes to my mind initially.. There may be some better ideas..

thx for the quick reply!
however, i don't think that eqing is the problem, the pedal retains low end pretty well, i think what i'm looking for is a way to reduce the input gain the pedal recieves. it also has a blend knob built in, but i've found that to be pretty useless.

to guys who own the pedal: doesn't it have some sort of pad function for active basses, the way amps do? i guess that would help me, but i've found no trace of it in the manual.
