THE NEW AMPEG COMBO!!!

We have been over this atleast five or six times now in various Ampeg related threads. I'm getting really tired of repeating myself so listen up as I will not say it again in this thread.

Where the product is made does not have anything to do with this thread.

There is no proof that the product will be of lesser quality at this time so drop it. If you want to go there, I'm telling you now it will be a three day vacation from TB. Why? Because it is the same old argument everytime and it always leads to personal insults and general flaming which are against TB rules.

As some of you will notice, I have already done some post deleting in this thread to clean it up a bit. I will be watching this thread closely.

Amps Mod,
Kelly Lee

THANK YOU KELLY!!

This is just a polite general question, so don't get upset Kelly. Since when is "proof" required before one posts an opinion on this board? Don't you think the members here are smart enough to figure out a few things on their own?

This board is 99% "unproven" opinion if you ask me. That doesn't stop me from enjoying it, and all the different opinions don't offend me either. They're just subjective opinions by some guys/gals who know a lot and some who know just a little but we should still be free to sort them out without censorship. You get to know certain posters and whether or not they make sense, and that's part of being in a community. Maybe you're trying to protect the impressionable teenagers on the board or something.

IMO you don't delete the topic because it "could" lead to flames, you just delete the flames. I guess I'm missing something, but their seems to be some over-sensitivity to this issue. Not criticizing, just looking for a bit more latitude.

As far as I'm concerned, discussing the location of manufacture for an item is not a political statement. Anway, I kind of disagree when you say "where the product is made has nothing to do with this thread". Seriously, how many thousand times have you seen the terms MIA, MIM & MIJ? :D

Yes, and Kelly--

I agree with Hawkeye. No disrepect to you or the rules here intended, but I felt compelled to defend myself against the "********" remark. A few minutes after I posted my defense, I thought better and deleted it in an effort to not escalate.

And, you did indeed delete some offending posts. Why hasn't the "********" remark been deleted?

And just for the record, are there appeal rights to your moderator decisions, and if so, to whom?

dude relax its over... ok lets get back on topic of these new amps

Andyman - Sorry, I just caught the "********" remark and it has been removed. My apologies for not catching it the first time through. BTW, this is one of the very reasons why this topic is moderated very tightly. It always generates these type of remarks.

Hawkeye and Andyman - I explained the reasons why in my first post. I, nor any mod, should have to come in every Ampeg thread that discusses the "new" Ampeg and moderate/delete posts. I don't like doing it and neither do the other mods. Just like with other topics at TB like politics, religion, drugs, sex, Behringer, etc. we have to moderate them to death or some times just flat out ban them (politics) because of the problems they create. We are also here to help head things off when we know there will be problems. Yes, it is censorship. However, this is what our job entails. We can almost guarantee a thread is going to cause a problem by it's title. That is how predictable it is in the Amps forum.

Paul is the guy to talk to if you can't resolve an issue with a moderator. It is his board and has the ultimate authority on any issue.

As to the facts at hand, why keep beating a dead horse on the Vietnam/China/Ampeg thing? If you talk about American jobs and such it is political and against the rules. If it's just because you don't like Chinese or Vietnamese people then it's racisism and that's not allowed. If you don't like their governments then that's political. If you don't like how coroporate America is sending American jobs overseas then, again, it is political.

If it is because there is evidence to show that the product is inferior, then by all means, talk about it. Unfortunately this is a fairly new development and the products are just now starting to show up. Do you guys have any first hand experience with the new overseas products to give your opinion on? If so, please share it otherwise I can't see any reason for dragging up the same heated issue time and again.

As to not let this thread be derailed any further, please PM if you would like to continue this discussion. I'm always open to listening to TB members and will try to adjust, fix, adapt, or change in any way to make TB a better forum. If you feel you can't do that with me please contact Paul.

Regards,
Kelly Lee

So, didn't knwo where to throw this tid-bit of info, but I was talkign to the bass rep at a local store and he said they ordered in two of the new combo's produced over-seas and he siad they both came in dead on arrival. . .
Let's try to stay away from what some dealer said please. We have no clue as to why they were DOA other than speculation so it has no real merit.

Man, I would have figured someone would have a Chinese or Vietnam made Ampeg by now. Come on guys, go buy some Ampeg! Check them out at the shops to see if you can find one and try it out. Atleast then we will have some firsthand knowledge of them.

I was in Guitar Center in Columbus today and bought (an Amercan made) SVT 810 cab. My salesmen called LOUD and they confimed all new Ampeg stuff (including the tube heads) are now coming from overseas. Any NOS left in stores is the last American made stuff left.

I estimate that in 5-10 years my SVT AV Classic stack will be worth about 3 grand, easy.

;)

Big deal.

I recently bought an American made GK combo.

It was dead on arrival.

So was it's replacement.

What does that mean?

Nothing.

Well i stayed away from my interpretations of this information whatever they may be... as its true this can range from a slight idication of quality to meaning absolutly nothign since one can only speculate... there could be numerous reasons why they were DOA

I had been told once not to buy a brand new car the first year of a new model or huge change. Same goes for software wait to upgrade to Vista. There will still be bugs to work out.
While I know what DOA really stands for if it is being shipped by anyone, it could also be interpreted Dropped On Asphalt, Damaged On Airplane, or Dope On Acid, Dumb Olaf Accident, ..........
