The new Linkin Park?

Maybe not as heavy handed as the monkees, but LP was far from an organically formed group of guys from the same scene. It was obvious to me from the first time I saw them that some industry muckity-muck had their hand in it. If you like that, that's fine - but it's not something that wins my respect.
That same reasoning could be used to discard all Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green.

Almost didn’t bother responding to this since you ended your response with a pretty wild strawman ad homenim, but I’ll give it a shot on the off-chance you’re interested in an actual conversation.

This is what we actually know as third parties to the situation:

Emily is not a “well-documented defender” of Danny Masterson: she attended a preliminary hearing during his trial.

She got put on blast by Cedric from the Mars Volta (a former Scientologist himself) for still being involved with the church, and the media jumped at the opportunity for a bunch of clicks.

If this level of outrage is appropriate for the situation, where is the public lunch mob for all Catholic celebrities?

Obvious double standards like this are pretty clear indicators of clickbait, and there’s no actual investigative journalism being done here either.

A former Scientologist whose wife was raped by Masterson and the son of a beloved singer who committed suicide understandably have very strong feelings about anything involving Scientology or the Linkin Park respectively.

The media reprinting their pain for clicks is at best republishing short emotionally charged editorials, not doing investigative fact-based journalism.
When your buddy is accused of multiple rapes, and you show up at COURT to support him against his MULTIPLE RAPE CHARGES you lose all credibility. Personally, I don't hang out with rapists, let alone support them when they are facing obvious and well-documented charges from multiple accusers. It's not like she thought she was going to traffic court and got blindsided by the rape charges.

And yeah, if someone has a pal who is a Catholic priest who rapes people I think they should be held accountable for defending their rapist buddy.

The only clicks here are people defending a rapist because they want to be emo edgelords or want to defend supporting terrible people without having to admit that they are, in fact, supporting terrible people.

The idea that someone should assume a friend of theirs is guilty of heinous crimes before hearing any evidence, simply because they’re either numerous or especially heinous crimes, isn’t well reasoned.

Listening to evidence before having an opinion is what all rational, reasonable adults are supposed to do.

It’s why “innocent until proven guilty” is the rule of law in the US.

Calling someone a terrible person because they once had a friend who did terrible things is illogical at best.

Especially when it’s in a thread that’s actually about a great tribute band from Argentina.

Think critically, and act accordingly 😎

I could easily live with that, in fact I have. I’ll allow Kiln House and Future Games though.

Okay Mr. Critical Thinker.

Your pal is accused by multiple women of rape, and despite that being one of the hardest charges to stick, the DA finds he has enough evidence to take those charges to a grand jury. That grand jury finds the evidence compelling enough to send it to trial, and the DA goes to trial, which happens to include numerous witnesses, also a rarity in rape cases.

And for all that, you think, what, they made up the entire story, fabricated charges, and it's all just pure fantasy dreamed up for kicks? Or maybe, just maybe, your pal there is actually a monster.

Think critically and act accordingly.

Probably status quo when MY opinion compels me to post in OT...

BUT IMHO y'all care waaaaay too much about what "celebs" do.

Dance for me, clown. Entertain me, jester.
Distract me from my stoopid life, entertainer.
That's my take. Like the product or don't.

Don't give them views or buy a ticket if you have an issue. The only real power any of us have is clamping down the wallet or not giving a stream or click. Ugh just hearing or reading the word "cancel" makes me lose all interest in anything else one has to say. Alexander Bell was a eugenics proponent; cancel your phone.
