The new tc electronic BG500.

Bought the TCE-BG500 15 yesterday. Due to some older gear I traded plus a coupon, I didn't pay anything for the TCE.

This thing is HEAVY -- especially in comparison to the GK MB210 I bought a couple of days ago but here's the thing ... I bought the GK specifically to gig with. The weight was a major consideration and I wasn't going to compromise on it.

The TCE is officially my home/practice amp. I know that 500 watts is a lot for practice but at $300 (the cost with my coupon), it was the best deal available. I couldn't think of ANYTHING better for a practice amp at that price point -- so I snagged it.

We'll see how it works long term.

I guess that you will be using the TC after a while. I know that it is heavy ...
Ro -- you dont understand. My home practice space is in the loft ... 3 floors up from the garage. My back is STILL killing me from lifting that gear yesterday. :scowl:

I doubt very seriously that this amp will be moved. If i need more volume on a gig, ill buy the extension cab for the GK.

Been using it for a while now...due to the slimness of the cab, the weight isn't that big of a deal..and believe me..I was agonizing over getting the GK 2x12 or the 15, cuz I wanted stupid light.

The compressor, and the funky way it works makes me wish there was a pedal version..it's not just a plain old compressor. I really works in a very cool and valuable way.

This thing is stupid loud in such a great way...and so damn musical.

As far as heavy, it ain't SVT heavy, or even old SWR heavy..

This was a steal.

I'm with Bassmunky on this one. I've had mine for a month or two now and it's been solid. Gigged with it a few times already and had zero problems. Just tons of loud great tone. Haven't had any of the dreaded button problems yet either. So it was money well spent for me.

After two weeks of rocking it, I'd say it was worth it. The replacement button caps are on their way (again, not a big deal since the buttons themselves work fine). And as Bassmunky says, the compressor does its work in a musical way without killing the whole signal... and the overdrive, ye gods the overdrive... By far one of the best emulations I'd heard.

Curiously enough, it works just as well for a guitar, the drive is curiously British-like.

... I really dig some of the features ... cool amp ...

I echo everything written here. Mine really serves as a giant practice amp since I have another amp for gigging but at $349, this was a fantastic deal!

I played on one today!!!!!!!!!! I have some serious gas, now. This thing smokes the GB Neo-x 400 that I just sold. It sounded GREAT flat and I'd love to see what else I could get out of it. May I ask where you guys are finding this for $350? GC had it for $650 and the cheapest I could find it online was $580.

I got mine at GC for $349 just over a month ago. They go on sale periodically, and its worth waiting for the next time they do. You could always ask the GC folks if they could give you the sale price now, though. Never hurts to ask, right?

I got mine on "clearance", but I have seen them periodically for $379 at GC.
