The "new" Wal

Like I said earlier, 20 years ago you could pick them up for 400 pounds, which is probably the equivalent of about $1200 in real terms now. I couldn't justify spending what they go for now, but then I wouldn't dare play something out that was nominally worth 3000 pounds even if I'd bought one 20 years ago... But then I'm cheap.
The waiting list is two plus years and prices are at an all-time high. Apparently there are a sufficient number of people who do not believe them to be overpriced nor overrated.

Well, the OP did ask if anybody had gotten a new one, and there are lots of new ones there!
I love it when someone "green" talks down about things they have NO IDEA what they are talking about just because they have a 'hunch' its similiar to something else. Frankly you couldn't be MORE WRONG. Wal basses are not like Fenders pre/CBS, CBS, or post/CBS - or whatever. They haven't changed their design, there was no particular era where one was better than the other and certainly a build location does not dictate it's desirability.
By saying, you didn't even know they left says how much you know about Wals. It's been already mentioned that Paul, the guy whose running the show now, has worked with Pete and Ian (I have a Wal thar was signed by him during this time). Paul took over every thing after Wal had temporarily shut its doors. One of the guys here in TB @Caca de Kick has one of the first Paul builds after he took it over fully. I have 2011 and a 2012 Wal and build quality is nothing less than any of my other ones.....perhaps even better.

Hey calm down there Sunshine.
1) They are only bass guitars and nothing worth getting all emotional about in the first place. If you get really bent out of shape over someone berating your favorite bass builder (which I really wasn't doing anyway) then perhaps you take bass guitars in general a bit too seriously (or a lot too seriously).
2) I frankly don't give a crap and was just being silly in the first place.
3) See #1 again just for good measure.
4) My comment was never about the quality or lack thereof in Wal basses to begin with! It was more about how the PERCEPTION of some bass BUYERS can be skewed by the silliest of things..... a point truly lost on you, obviously.
5) Just to make absolutely sure your undies get unwadded perhaps you should read #1 just one more time.
You people and your righteous indignation over freaking bass guitars kill me.
I'm sure they are truly amazing and worth your having a heart attack over.

While I've always thought that they looked interesting, and am glad that they're back in business, £4,050 ($6,347) is light-years away from a realistic price.
This is my opinion and only my opinion. They are made in the UK which is great, but 4 grand? That's almost the price of a mortgage down-payment where I am.

If you look on basschat or the FB Wal group page, there are plenty of owners and future owners of Wals posting pics. There is actually one At basschat of another nice 6er thats slated for delivery soon.

Would love to get your review of your 6. I have considered for so many years the possibility of getting a couple...fretless and fretted, but haven't taken the leap...I'm such a fiver guy...4 of them Wals!
