The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread: Part II

Ah, yes, finally found it:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The article was on my Droid, but couldn't find it online for a while. One of my all-time favorite players and Flyer favorites finally gets his time to lift the Cup although never as a player. Congrats Hextall!

Growing up playing hockey in So Cal, when my heroes were wearing purple and gold, I've dreamed of the day when my beloved Kings would win the Cup. We had one good chance when Gretzky came to town, but for the most part, a good year has meant not getting swept in the first round of the playoffs. Finally, my dreams have come true.

As for the last game...
What the hell happened to Brodeur? 3 goals in 5 minutes (even short-handed) is an utter collapse. I wanted the Kings to win, of course, but I have a LOT of respect for Marty, and was a bit sad to see him have such a rough final game. He's still one of the best in the game, but I wonder if he's going to finally hang it up.

Congrats, Kings, on a spectacular win. I'm looking forward to next year.

Anybody else mad that they cut the telecast before everyone had their chance to parade around with the Cup? I know it made me mad. I used to like seeing when they carried the telecast to where the team would finally be gathering together on the ice getting their picture taken with the Cup.

The only reason? No. Part of the reason? Yes.

No way buddy. You subtract Richards, Carter, and Scuderi from that team and you wouldn't even make the playoffs.

I kid, I kid. I jumped on your Kings bandwagon as soon as the Pens went out. I love how they fought all the way up from the #8 seed, and who they took out along the way. Great job coaching from Sutter to phenomenal goaltending from Quick, to some great play from the forwards. I hope they do it again next season.

I'll start an offseason thread here soon, but real quick like....who are you expecting to lose this offseason via free agency or trade?

How about the f bomb after the win right before the presentation. "Thats why we $$@&&# play." I liked it personally, I'm sick of all the players with the politically correct bs that shows no emotion, or originality. What did you guys think, cool or classless.

After 24/7 I think the world knows how hockey players/refs/coaches talk now. He didn't mean to, it was a slip of the tongue by a guy who just won the cup. So I was ok with it. But I can understand why some are not.

Tim Lincecum did the same thing in an interview after the Gigantes made the playoffs in 2010. It was another dumb question to Timmy by hte media... Something along the lines of "Hey, are you excited that you guys are heading to the playoffs?"

His response? "**** YEAH!!!"

I figure Matt Carle and van Riemsdyk will be gone from the Flyers. A possible fly in the ointment (in van Riemsdyk's case) is that he needs surgery, and is reportedly delaying the surgery to avoid being traded. It was said that Holmgren is furious about JVR's delaying tactics; but then Holmgren vehemently denied it. He said the surgery is delayed due to an infection. But until he gets "fixed" and gets a clean bill of health, nobody is likely going to trade for him. Word is they'd like to trade him to Columbus for Rick Nash. Not sure if that would happen though, even if JVR was healthy...

JVR's surgery got held up due to an infection, nothing more. I still expect him to get dealt, but there's no delay in his surgery other than his foot got infected and that got him out of the schedule for that type of surgery.

Matt Carle may or may not go depending on how confident the Flyers are on getting their intended target(s) this offseason. He'd prefer to stay in Philadelphia so it might take a hgiher contract to take him away than for him to stay in Philly. if they dump JVR, Carle could look good next to Weber. He needs a big body to play next to.

Personally I'd still like to see the JVR for Schenn rumor come true. That could wake both young guys up and bring the Flyers a banger on defense they need. (and still pick up Weber)

Everyone recognizes the important & huge contributions the latest additions & Sutter have made. No doubt about it.

His daughter has to be two years old. Cute but how about he says to his woman, "Babe, this is the biggest day of my life; we're having a ****ing press conference. Can you take her for a few ****ing minutes?" I don't blame the kid I blame the mom.

Nah. Quick didn't seem to be bugged by it in the least, and Sutter seemed quite amused. Besides, it made the stupid questions from the press tolerable.
