I'd still prefer they go back to the OLD playoff seeding system. Forget the Conferences. Top 16 teams, regardless of Conference.

1 vs. 16
2 vs. 15, etc.

I liked that system much better. After playing the teams in your own Division 6 times in the regular season, I get sick of playing the same teams again in the playoffs. Plus, going strictly by point totals seems more fair to me.

I think it is exciting and brings alot of new fans to the sport. It might not be perfect, but it sure is better than 6 hour games that only bore the fans and injure players. I think it has been one of many great steps towards making our sport more fan friendly. We have the best commissioner in sports, that's for sure.

I saw, I still felt like saying something since I was picking against your favorite team.

As far as the "fleecing" is concerned, with Richards and Carter playing on much worse teams, their stats were bound to go down. Honestly, I can't think of anyone that's had a good season in Columbus. The Flyers did get a good job of getting solid returns on their investments though, and, this season, they showed pretty well how having a close knit locker room will help out a team in the long run.

The funniest part of that deal, to me, is how they both ended up together in LA again anyhow.

Ties can be exciting. I'd prefer a tie to the shootout, and it has nothing to do with how good or bad my team is in them. There is no reason that teams that have fought to a deadlock after 65 minutes should have to go through the motions just so one team can pick up an extra point at the end of the night. The shootout is honestly one of my biggest gripes with the NHL right now, coupled with the "enforcer" rules.

I hear you on the supposed fleecing of Columbus. The Flyers made the best of a difficult situation, which Holmgren deserves credit for. I still feel that the Flyers need to at least return to the SCF to make the offseason moves a success.

For the SO, the winner should get two points and the looser should get none. Makes perfect sense; then there are no ties and no unfair points awarded. Under the current system you can loose all 82 games in the year and still finish with more points than the Leafs.

almost every thread of comments from nhl.com dissolves into points wars on what the system "should" be.

I like 2 points for a win, reg or 5 min 4on4. 0 points for loser, reg or OT. 0 points for either team if no winner at the end of OT.

Glad we don't have to worry about it for the next 2-3 months. :)
