I have an early 90's B-15T SS amp 360 max watts.
It has been cutting in/out on me for about a year with increasing regularity...more cut out then on. So I haven't been using it. When it comes back on it crackles and snaps loudly. An expensive fix? Worth fixing? Better off replacing it?
I've tried replacing the cable going from the amp to 115 cab with same results and also the instrument cable. Your help, suggestions would be much appreciated before I just decide to toss it. Thank you.

I bought a little Ampeg GVT5-110 guitar combo amp when they were being sold on closeout for half price a few years ago. All the other amps were also deeply discounted, and I have wished that I had bought one or two of the other amps in the product line at the time. All of the GVT amps are vacuum tube amps. Since then I have bought more GVT stuff used. Many sales of these used amps go for more than the original closeout prices. So now gas has struck again.

I currently own the 5/2.5 Watt combo, a 15/7.5 Watt head with a spring reverb tank, two 112 closed back speaker cabinets, and most recently, the mighty GVT52-212 combo you see below.

As a sound guy, this is the kind of amp I hate to see someone bring to a show because it is LOUD AS HELL.

50, (or 25) Watts. ECC83 preamp tubes, and 2 6L6 output tubes. Two channels, and a "Boost" function on each that switches a resistor value to change the gain. Volume, and Master Gain controls. Two 12 inch Eminence speakers (that apparently all the golden-eared guitar players who review this amp change out). It also has 16, 8, and 4 Ohm speaker jacks. When the footswitch is connected, and the spring reverb function, and effects loop are off, the signal path is 100% tube. Not sure I dig the overdrive channel too much, but I will have to play with it a little more.

I am surprised that these amps did not sell well enough to continue production. It is a modern version of the old GV amps. I should have found one of the 112 versions of this amp, because this thing is big, and weighs 63 pounds.

If I could play like Keith Richards, I could cop his old live sound with this amp.

I am a year late, but do you know which of preamp tubes is V1? I want to change it to TAD7025 Hugh Grade tube. Is it the one to left from power tubes, in front row?

I bought same amp in 2013- or 2014, i have swapped Celestions to Jensen P12R`s, the sound is more to my liking now. I think it will be yet more chiming and detailed with these swaps. I pay mostly clean, i get my distorsion from pedals.

Was looking at Ampeg clubs and was wondering why there isn't an SVT pro3 club. I recently bought one after 40 plus years of playing and just can't believe there is so little hype and info about these great bass amps. I've owned an all valve Hiwatt, Ampeg v4b, Superbassman, Trace Elliott V4 Markbass Classic and a list of solid state, digital, and hybrids. Imho the pro 3 I rate amongst the best of them. I am using a GK neo 212 8 ohm cab so am only getting 280 watts out of it but it's kept up with all the bands I've played with without missing a beat. The beauty for me is you can push it hard and that's where the magic happens. I'm about to pull the pin on a 112 AV and if I like it I might end up with a second so I can get it down to 4 ohm. Would've saved a lot of $$ if I'd realised what a gem this is a lot earlier. Great product Ampeg, Stoked!

I used to have one my own self. I enjoyed it. Gets unfairly slagged by some for being underpowered when all you have to do is ignore the gain light and use your ears to turn the gain up as high as it'll go before you hear distortion, and there's all the power, by golly! Same with the 4 Pro. But now all I have are tube amps and micros. I figure if I'm going to bring a trad solid state amp, I might as well bring a tube amp. Fortunately I can use a 50w tube amp with my bands so I'm actually saving weight vs the 3 and 4 Pro :D

I had a V4b SVT 212 rig and a 100t but they were slightly underpowered for my needs so I ended up with the SB300 which I've found mainly overpowered and heavy. Went to a GK MBF 500 neo 212 rig which I was content with but always felt there was something lacking. Snagged a great deal on the SVT pro3 and couldn't be happier. GK is now my backup head and SB300 with neo 410 is for sale. Also own an Ampeg BA 112 50 watt combo for most of my rehearsal needs which has a great tone especially as it's solid state.
