or yes, you can do this. I thought about it and might still put some longer feet on the amp to raise it over the handles.

Saw this early 70s SVT where they said a pre-amp output was added at some point. Wouldn't they mean input if you were going to use the SVT as a power amp with another preamp tone stack?

I mean, a Pre-Out also makes sense if you want the preamp to go to a power amp that works if the tube power amp craps the bed for any reason - as tube power amps are want to do at random and inconvenient times

I have 2 SVT210-AVs (200 w. each) that I am driving with an Ashdown Original EVO 300 w. amp. I can't even get the volume up to noon before the speakers start to fart. Is this normal?

Knob positions are no a reliable indicator of power. The distortion you hear may be the amp clipping. I have several amps that their limit well before 12:00 on the volume control. I don't know what is normal for the EVO 300.

I have found that these speakers can't take a lot of power in the lower frequencies, so I'll say yes, that is normal. I used them on one gig, found they "farted" out at gigging volume, turned them down and went through the PA and never gigged with them again. There after they served as a practice setup.

I have run a pair of SVT210AV cabs with the 700 watt Ampeg Venture V7 amp and got as loud as I could ever reasonably want in a 7 piece cover band and did not get fartout, but I also used a HPF pedal so I wasn't hitting the cabs with too much subby low boost, and as a result the low bass was kinda lean and a little unsatisfying. So, with those trade offs, they didn't quite work out for me in that situation long term. They work better in lower volume situations.

The Ampeg PF-HE cabs are a big step up in performance from the 210-AV, and the SVT 112 and 212 AV cabs are another big step up from the PF cabs imho. Aaaand… from what I've read, the Venture Bass cabs are probably another step up (certainly in low bass capabilities) from the 112 and 212 AV cabs…

I had two for awhile. They just can't do the job of a single 410 cab. I love the Ampeg, but those SVT210's are novelty cabs for the little SVT head.
