Since the 60's ushered in the "louder is better" era, that's when the exaggerations started in earnest.
They are only exaggerations when the numbers are not solidly printed to understand.
250 watts should be taken as RMS as a standard, but I always assume 1/2 of that until proven innocent.

Too big to put the whole thing on the photo without downscaling the performers I guess.
The 15's remind me of Electro Voice speakers. Maybe not. But back then I had one EVM-15B 400 watt woofer for a diy bass cab, but didn't have much knowledge of what to do with it other than the power rating and frequency range. I called it the speaker I won't blow out because I was lucky to even have a 100 watt amp then.

Stopped in to guitar center to check out an SVT II (NP) always a mistake going there. They has it plugged into a really crappy Sun 2x15. I asked for a better cab so the guy says hell carry it to the other room where the ampeg 410 is, cool. He commences to turn it off without using standby. I suggested not doing so, he then unplugged it .
Were in the other room, he plugs it in and turns it on (no standby). I look, no speaker cable to be seen, i turn it off. He just looks at me with a dumb look. I very nicely explain, he goes, Eh, been along time, i donr know about that stuff.
So, i jam it. Seems like there's not alot (like it shoud be) coming out. I had one, i currently have 2 svt2 pros. Going past 3 didnt seem to make alot of difference. It got more distored though. All the tubes were lit, it was set to 4 into a 4ohm cab.
I tell him its gna need to be check out, probably need some work, price is high concidering ($800). Im waiting to see what hell offer. He goes, yeah, youll get that, see ya later.
I may or may not have taken it for less, but now itll sit. I almost called the manager but decided to let it go since i probably wouldn't buy for more that $500 anyways.

Finally got an 810! Need to make new matching grills for the two 210pro cabs.

Yep all 8 ohm cabs. I also have an svt2 pro and 72 V4 that will do 2 ohms.
The new rig so far which I'll be completing very soon, adding another AV 112. Time to sell the Fender Superbassman 410 neo rig. Love that rig but I play better through the Ampeg.

After 15 years away from playing bass in a band setting I've found myself back behind the 4 string. As you might be able to tell from my avatar I spent the better part of that 15 years playing drums, but that ended 5 years or so ago.
At any rate, our guitar player has a BA115 at his house that I play through at band practice. It sounds great. If/when we gig I'll be using my PF500/210 rig.
I'm pretty sloppy right now. 15 years not in a band, 3 shows maybe in that 15 year span, the last one being in 2009 so it's been a long time since I've played bass with other folks, but it's fun and I'm enjoying it so far.

So sweetwater doesn't have several ampegs in stock,they're talking next month for several amps including svt cl and 4 pro. I wonder why this is? This wound mean theyre waiting a a bran new bach then. Ill bet this hurricane delays arrival if theyre all still made in china, unless they come across tgs Pacific.

I don't know what the new procedure at Yamaha will be for checking amps. I imagine they won't be letting out many clunkers, knowing Yamaha.
I'm sure they're trying to avoid any lag time, but it's a pretty large operation with a deep product line, and moving it from one company to another does tend to slow things down at first.
Im kinda excited, Yamaha is definitely about their business. Great for ampeg and us.
Hey guys. Am I allowed to ask this here? I have my SVT 6 Pro listed locally. Had a guy asking about me taking a lower price. Is there a going rate? I don't plan to list it here because logistics of shipping to US are too much. Just want a better feel for price range for this head in the real world.
