Latest amp wall in my practice room.
Question on V-4B speaker outputs, if anyone can help me out. If not, I'll ping Ampeg customer support...
I've got a V-4B en route, and am now looking at my cabinet options. I currently have a Mesa Subway 1x12 (8 Ohm) and Subway 1x15 (8 Ohm). Simple enough - plug each into the 4 Ohm outputs on the head, since it's a 4 Ohm load.
I'm also looking at picking up either a Subway 2x12 or 2x15, but those are both 4 Ohm cabs. I understand that I cannot use an 8 ohm out and a 4 ohm out simultaneously on the V-4B (i.e. plug the 4 ohm 2x15 into a 4 ohm out and the 8 ohm 1x15 into the 8 ohm out). However, the Mesa cabs have both an input and a parallel output on each cab. So, I'm wondering if I can plug the V-4B 2 Ohm output into the 2x15 (4 Ohm) and then run the 2x15's parallel output into the 1x15 (8 Ohm)?
Is there any issue with using the V-4B 2 Ohm power output to run a 2.67 Ohm load?

There probably shouldn't be, but it's definitely something you want to try at home before taking it to a gig.
My practice amp is a BA115HP and it sounds good in the living room (style #4) position. The SVT just makes everything in the house buzz and rattle.
How does one join the Ampeg club? SVT-5 Pro w/ footswitch, 2x810E cabinets, Ampeg OptoComp, Ampeg SCR-DI, and soon the Ampeg Liquifier.
Please tell me you sit on the bed and just decimate yourself by cranking two full stacks 18 inches from your face?
Yup. I sure do. Almost daily, before the wife and kids get home - then i plug the headphones into the SCR-DI. It's in a spare bedroom, so as long as the wife doesn't have to stare at it or hear it, she's happy.
Kind of surprised but the SVT-810 cab sounds great with the PF-50T head running it. Hard to believe how much volume you can get out of it.
That's what I'm running right now. Most of the time I run it with the master at 8 o'clock and the gain at 10 o'clock. I turned the master up about halfway once as an experiment. It was ridiculously loud. I can't imagine a practice situation where I'd need to be louder than that.
It's definite proof that more speakers give you more volume with the same amount of power. It's a great way to get a nice big full sound at a lower volume in a small space. My SVT-CL is just too much power running through it for in my bedroom at home. By the time you get it to a volume that sounds good it has everything in the room rattling but I can get a great sound with the PF50.
Well, the V-4B is my first foray into tube power. I've only had it a few days, but it sounds incredible at home. My setup is a Mesa D-800+ with a Subway 15 and 12. I'll be keeping and using the 800+ still, but the V4B will get as much use if not more.
I know it's been stated ad nauseam, but there's just something about the depth and feel of an all tube head that is different. It's like a 3rd dimension to the notes that is unique compared to SS amps. I also noticed that the V4B is the first head where I've actually felt like rolling the bass off a bit. There's so much depth and body in the lows that it actually sounds more balanced when I back the bass off to 10-11:00. Everything just sounds rich and chewy and thick. It's pretty glorious...
Looking forward to playing at the practice space Monday and running some dirt pedals through it in a jam session.
