
This makes absolutely zero sense, on any level. You thought removing a few bolts, adding a business card, then tightening the bolts again was more risky than removing the bridge and routing a hole in the body.
This, friends, is why we buy cheap basses. Believe me, I've made much worse setup mistakes in my time, also, thankfully with cheap instruments.
Please don't make the same mistake with a more expensive instrument. I'd recommend taking the neck off the Brice to see what's going on there. Learn to do a proper setup - check the setup forum FAQ and links there. Shimming a neck is ridiculously simple, and completely non-intrusive, about as simple as raising and lowering the bridge saddles.
