I almost did not buy it because it was right when they started the overseas production line. I thought that they would be junk. But I knew the salesman well and trusted him. So I preordered and got my pick of the first batch in. Fell in love with it that day.
Only thing not original is the split pick up. I cannot remember what it is but I know that it is a S.D. It was a very tight fit.

I tried a bunch of basses in my price range lately and the one that spoke to me the most by far was a Jackson. It's an older one that looks to be MIJ- it has bolt on neck, smaller double cut body, pointy headstock, dot markers. I wish this was not the case but that Jackson is in my head and has been since the first time I played it.

I guess if the pickups aren't good I can replace them, but that headstock is there to stay. It's OK I guess because I'm a bit eccentric and it would fit right in probably but still, I worry for my daughter when she's near and I'm playing it.

This Jackson bass is in the lead over classic vibe and every vintage modified bass I've tried. I love MIJ guitars and have several so that Jackson neck just feels like home. I'll post pics when I get it home (I'll need to return a Squier Vintage Modified Amber P bass to GC first).

I will next time I'm around it- maybe tomorrow. It looks like a Charvel 2B I think only it says Jackson on it instead. Nothing else on the headstock. It has a scarf joint a few inches from the headstock, similar to MIJ Charvels and the ilk. No indication of country of origin but it certainly feels like MIJ.

OK here she is- I bought the damn thing. I'm probably going to put a tennis ball on the pointy end to make it safer.

It has excellent tone and it's very versatile. It sounds great for slap with that J pickup, and it can rumble like a P should. I was able to get the tone to tighten up like the Squier Amber P I returned for it too. Great bass, and serious bang for buck here.

it is what Vain says, year 2000, nothing special except they are the heavier unit for the year compared to the C-series, the p-pickup is not reversed like the C-20s, Ash body, standard C-series bridge pots and pickups.

A friend of mine turned a metallic red JS into a very nice frankenbass by using a fender neck copy on it with a matching headstock -- He is gonna send me some pics and I'll post them.

I thought you would never own a gumby head. I still have my C5A and C5MJ gumbys. I had interest in the C4MJ at one time. How is the C20? Is it a keeper?

I bought a OEM Jackson case months ago, didn't think to LOOK at the molded foam on the inside, found out it was only for the C-series, then this black one came around with a premium jackson case that was molded for a p-bass. Threw the C20 in the OEM case, and used the premium case for one of my p-basses.

It plays fine out of the box. however, if someone wanted it next week, it will get sold. I got too many righty units again.

Here are my four Jacksons. We have a Trans Red and a Black w stickers (my Fav) Concert CMG, a Futura with flat wounds, and KB1 (if memory serves) with Quarter Pounders split P-ups.
The CMGs are without a doubt my all time favorites guitars. They just fit my hands, is all I can say. The Futura has a slightly wider neck, more like my p-bass.
I have found myself considering upgrading the p-ups on one of the CMG's lately. I really like the tone I'm getting from the Q -Pounders on the KB1 but I don't know what kind of p-ups would give me that type of sound.

Thanks! I've never played a Charvel. Actually, I'm kind of a late comer to Jacksons. (I'm 51) I had never played one but ordered the Red CMG unseen through a local music store a few years ago. I liked it so much I bought the black one from MF a few weeks later.
Is it true that Jackson is now owned by Fender? I notice the new Fender Select basses have a compound radius neck. If Fender bought them it would explain a lot.
