and was never offered in the catalogsMarleaux sued em before they could make too many..1200 total in 3 different trim levels -painted p/j trans HH and paduwak natural oiled HH
Maybe they didn't make the catalogs but they made the price list.

I was one of the people Henryk from audiozone emailed back when I reported the catalog scans were down, so I have a lot of that stuff saved now just in case it happens again.

I highly doubt they would have sold 50000 of those anyway due to the non pointy -anti-Jackson headstock of the 90's, and the "turnip" shape. Besides the fact that the Marleaux Consat was the real deal, and the JPB was only a cheaper body copy only which sounded nothing like a Consat.

I have to tell you. I am not a gigging player anymore. Just a sit in my room, play and enjoy my guitars. So I do not know if the 3B would matter for me. I only jam with my good friend and/ or my daughter. Yea, last time on stage. Dec. 12, 1988 I even have a vid.

The last time I was on-stage was March '96 ,but I'm in a side-project with a guitarist whose other band opened for Hellyea/seether in June and is booked to open for Black Lable Society in October, and we are trying to get a gig for Halloween

unless you "like" them, I wouldn't buy one just for sitting at home jamming unless you are recording because the 3 and 4b's are preamped...do they sound better? no...just a lot more bassy if you need it due to lack of EQ-ing on the amp you use....
for practice I use my 4b, for gigs I use my 2b or my 4b depending on the room size and cabs I have to bring. The 3's are heavier and I only use them for home use, like you.......
You started in 88? I started in 79 and my first gig was in 83. Played allot from 83 to the end of 89. Pretty much never picked up my bass through the entire 90's Didn't even have much interest in music in those years. There were many things that caused that for me I will not get into here.
I give my daughter all of the credit for getting me back into music. Also that I was driving a truck all day back in late 99 for a year. It was either talk radio or start listening to music. I enjoy music more today then I ever did.

A wile back I was going to get one of those base $200.00 Ibanez basses (Cannot remember the model) At the time the Sam Ash down the street had a ton of them and I was surprised how nice they were. Also they were a little more easier for my daughter to play at the time. But now she can handle my 2b just fine and I figure. why not just get another one. she wants her own.
I have a built in EQ on my amp and have always gotten a pretty big sound out of it with my 2B. It is a real vintage Acoustic 320. Got in 85 used.

ive been thinking about a 5 but the thing is i play thrash metal and i would never really use it and i wouldnt want it to sit in a case i have seen a couple around and thought about it and maybe one day i really want a white finish and have seen a few e4 and f4 or there is a local shop that has been sitting on a blue elim for awhile that i might get
ya i remeber seeing that a while back i really love my e4 f4 and wanna add to those and hope to do the same and get the 3 colors i also just found a really nice looking f4 in red so thats also in the back of my mind
Ya know, I would like to get a 5 String, but I had not played one I like. Then a few months ago. I played a Musicman and loved it. But the $1500 price tag. Nope I just cannot do it. So I might have to look for one of those E5 or F5s. But that will be after I get another 2B.

Here is my 3b photos: I got the white one back in 86-87 brand new. I am pretty sure this was the day after I bought it. The purple one i found at a pawn shop last year for 90 dollars! I couldnt resist. To Mattconte: one thing that wasnt mentioned on the differences between the 2b and 3b is that the 3b is not a bolt on neck.
yep that purple one does what mine does in the different light changes a little to the brown side

true 1-2-4 are bolt on, but there are also other distinctive frontal "telltale" differences beyond the amount of knobs and switches --
the model 1 and 2 body are different than the 3-4 body and the knob spacing is different on the model 1-4 compared to the 2-3.

Nice group shot! I have a question, as you can see in my pics, mine had a mini toggle switch on both of them. When i bought my white one,around 86-87, another friend of mine got a purple one a little while after me. His bass came with a full size toggle like on a les paul. Was this a year difference or a Charvel goof?one more informational post as Bob started:

no, not a goof they stopped using the small switch preamp kit in 86. every 87-88 I ever saw came with the big switch with the black cap on it. BUT if they had 1000 of those older preamps still in inventory, then you could get a 87 with the miniswitch until they were used up. Same crap for the lefty 2b's they just threw in the righty 2b pot-kit and didn't re-solder the pins so every lefty you find the knobs turn the wrong way
( that is until you get used to it or swap wires )p.s. I just got used to it because eventually my spare preamp will go in my lefty 2b.
