Can you make me one as well Jenny?

Member #73, Polo35!

Or is the "one" you are referencing a copper or silver pickguard? Let me see how the one I make for myself comes out, before I go promising things to other people. I have done metal etching in the past, but it's been a while, and I'm not sure enough of my skill, or of how much it'll cost, or when I'll get around to it, to promise to do it for anyone else just yet.

AJM1966, would you like a membership number? Current ownership is not required, but I wasn't sure if you were just showing us a beautiful bass, or if you wanted to join.

I'd love a silver one Jenny. That would be really cool if you could make one. I'm sure if you did make me one I could get a Gretsch decal to put on it. I definitely wouldn't be able to make one I wouldn't have the skill required. Let's see how yours turns out first.

Dear Gretsch bass owners,
I hope that you can help me out with an issue that I ran into.
I have a Broadkaster (made in 2013). When I plug it into my amps (Carvin MB210), I got this weird humming noise or buzzing noise.
This only happen when I use only neck or bridge pickup.
When I use both pickup, the buzz reduced a lot.

Also when I turned the master volume knot, the buzz increase.
But when I turn the volume all the way up, the buzz decrease a little, but it is still there.

This is so weird. Can anyone help me solve this issue?
Thank you in advance.
JC

First thing I'd do is change cables and see if the buzz disappears. It's not that unusual for a cable to be a problem.

Second, I'd move farther away from the amp and see if the buzz dies out - that would indicate an RF (radio frequency) problem caused by the amp. That solution is simple: stay farther from the amp.

Third, ask yourself: what changed? If the bass did not buzz before this, what happened to cause the buzz? Did you change strings? Change cables? Do anything to the bass? If so, then examine that change, because it's probably the source of the problem.

Hi Pilgrim,
Ya, changing the cable was the first thing that I did and then moved away about ten feet. ( the cable is ten foot long).
But none of these reduced the noise.

I actually didn't do anything to the bass.
It is a new bass and I have only played it at home with very low volume. Like 1 on volume knot on the amp.
The only reason that I discovered the noise was that I started to play a little bit louder. Like 4 on volume knot.

I plan on bringing it in to a Fender Service Center to let them check it out.
Thanks for your help.

By the way, I realized that when I turn the tone knob down, the buzz is all gone.
Also when I turn the treble from my amp all the way down, the buzzing noise does reduce a lot, but it is still there.

Can somebody teach me what does this mean?
Thank you
JC

Nothing unique about my Electromatic 5123B except that apparently there were a very limited number made - only available from Guitar Center as a doorbuster special.

Love it, the medium scale neck is OH so comfortable...

I'm with you on that, but I wouldn't guess they're rare. I think there were a couple of production runs, and Guitar Center still has them. If there's a big demand for them, I expect they'll continue to make them.

Yeah, apparently the medium scalers were popular enough that they also released the bass in burgundy. I guess in the begininng they completely underestimated the market for a medium scaler.

Wish they would make a medium scale White Falcon!
