That shouldn't be stopping you doing some good ol' CV work should it will? go out for a run!

Shh, CV isnt fun :p

I am trying to get some in first thing in the mornings though. Just try and get into the habit of going up and hitting the gym when it opens :)

:( I hate injuries/getting sick, just eat a lot of super healthy food and rest up, you'll be back in no time.

Did my first session with the university wrestling team last week, got there and hour and a half early, ended up "killing time" with working out and it turned into a normal session by the end. Was super dead at the end, sore for days and a bit CNS overtrained, went for a run on Thursday night and got sick. Been eating well and getting tons of sleep, feeling good today and if I stay on top of my **** I should be fine for weeks.

Hit a clean and jerk PR a couple weeks ago -- 70kg, hadn't hit that since I wrenched it off the ground with horrible technique when I weighed 80kg, this time weighing about 69kg. My strength sessions have to drop off a bit in volume due to starting wrestling so I'm going to start snatching again, stopped ages ago due to shoulder impingement and rotator problems but those haven't been issues for some time.

Chillin' at around 72-73kg BW right now, have gradually gotten leaner and am probably around the same lean bodyweight I was at in March when I weighed 81kg. Interesting note -- I discovered I retain very little water, would like to get to around 77kg and just chill there, I want to wrestle at 67kg.

Tis a pain, I have a habit of sleeping on that arm too, last few days it's been pretty swollen. Quite tempted just to get some MgO tape, strapping up my wrist and popping a gram of ibroufen and then hitting the gym.

Good going with the PR :) , C&J and Snatch should be pretty good for your wrestling too :D

Well....took a week off because I had my wisdoms extracted. I wasn't really motivated while hopped up on percocet and eating the equivalent of baby food all week. They had to drill one out, so my mouth was a mess with stitches.

Anyway, I had back and shoulder day yesterday. While I generally change up my routine week to week, occassionally I forget about exercises that I should be doing. I did chins for the first time in ages and damn I am sore today. Funny how hitting your muscles at a different angle has such an effect.

So how is everyone else getting along at their gyms? I really hate January as the gym attendance goes up when the New Year Resolutionists take over. Usually around mid-February, everything returns to normal....LOL. I just wish they were taught "some" gym ettiquette before they were let loose.

Wouldnt say it's that funny, it's just the mechanics of it all!

However, I will agree that

A) Wisdom teeth suck
B) January sucks

I'm actually trying a new gym. Got a month's try-out membership, as they had a special deal with the University that students get 40% off. It's a pretty new gym with latest equipment, but it's pretty small and has very little free weights, so I'm probably not staying there for too long. However, it'll do for a while. Cheapest all-day membership to a nearby gym, anyways.

Last night, I was wondering why there were so many people that looked like beginners there, but I didn't remember it was January.. :D Also, for some reason there were couple pretty well trained females. Not BB type, but did some proper lifts with decent weights. It's always nice to see a female with trained glutes doing squats and whatnot - even if it tends to have a slightly negative impact on your own training :ninja:

First power snatchs of the new year, my back hurts :(

Hmmmm:hmm: to the folks that dont frequent the gym often this seems rather humorous..:p

All kidding aside I hated snatches. Coaches would make us do them to get off the snap better, it’s suppose to improve power from a stand still, we'd go into a full squat, some go into a lunge instead. I hated both, if your big and clumsy like me falling down with an Olympic bar loaded with your workout weight is a scary thought.

Im big and clumsy :)

You just really need to focus on technique and with lighter weights before loading it up so you know how to ditch the bar properly. Your coach was right tho, explosive lifts life the snatch and C&J are great for sports, really allows you to make the most of the strength you have allowing for a higher power out :)

Pretty good.

Been concentrating strongly on my weightlifting. Lots of C&J and snatch lifts.

C&J is going up slowly but steadily.

Been making a lot of advances with the snatch, but it's mainly because my technique is improving.

My back still hurts and curses me :p

Tsal, in the pic of the speed skater you posted, is her left skate broken or are they meant to be like that ? :s

IIRC, there's a spring-loaded hinge on the front attachment point, so yeah, they're ment to be like that. The idea is to get more natural movement for the ankle, and a bit more power to the kick. Apparently, the type of skate is called a "clapskate".
