Interesting, but fortunately I cannot relate. I use what I use and have no issues. Well, no bodybuilding issues that is. :D

You might want to examine your diet. Although not necessarily your problem, bodybuilders do tend to be excessive (for lack of a better term) and if someone downs a quart of milk and 40-50 grams of protein powder prior to workout (an example), I can understand how tossing a dose of some N.O. supplement on top would cause unpredictable results. :ninja: :hiding: :p

Body building? That i'm not sure of. Lifting and being in shape I don't think so. It depends on your current fitness level and past experience I'd think. I've got a couple football coaches who took 15-20 years off of lifting and are doing fine as far as I can tell.

So I'll not get a good body shape till the rest of my life? :D

I think you could get excellent results, as long as you stuck with it and went multiple times a week. Most people neglect cardio though. I've seen so many 'older' guys in the gym doing ab machines and situps to get rid of a beer gut but what they really need to do is cardio, cardio, cardio.

I would say that your best results would come with a 50/50 split between cardio and lifting.

The three most important ingredients to good results are training, diet, and sleep.

Is it too late to start bodybuilding at age 40?

:D
Not at all. Of course, you should use good judgment regarding how you ramp up your training if you've been sedentary or a "weekend warrior." See a doctor first, for example. Everyone has their own personal preference, but people of all ages got good results from Body-for-LIFE. It is worth considering.

What is Body-for-LIFE?

Just did an hour of stairwalking with a 36 lbs pack on my back! Have to train for some serious hillwalking this summer :)

You sir, are an animal! Doing stairs gets my heart going fast and I can only do about 10 minutes...

BTW, to the 'older' guys interested in training:

Check out the supplement Glutamine. Its an amino acid that your body produces naturally, it functions to help repair damaged body tissue among other things. When you train, your body has a hard time keeping up enough glutamine production to keep healing (building) your muscles. So by taking small servings of Glutamine daily while training your body will recover quicker and you will spend less time being sore.

It works great! I use the brand "Fitness Labs". And no I don't work at GNC, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!

I set up my power rack this past Thursday evening, and what an awesome time! I bought a BodyMasters power rack from Craiglist for $320 a couple of months ago. I only hvae 300lb worth of weights at the moment, so my squat and deadlift has shifted slightly to account for this. I switched to sumo-style deadlifting recently, so I am working on building that up. I'm planning on purchasing 4 more plates soon, to be able to increase at some point.

I got an AWESOME score on Saturday morning. I went to a local yard sale and got 270lbs of dumbbells for $40.00. And two of them are York globe dumbbells (70lb each). The only problem is that the seller had spray-painted them gold (WHY???). And by not securing them in the car, I managed to smash the plastic trim in my car when taking a turn.

It is pretty nice, to be able to lift in workboots, use chalk, not have some idiot bumping into me, trying to work in, etc.

Last time out I set a PB for one rep max on my deadlift, 300lb. That might not sound like a lot for some of you, but I only weigh 160lb, so it is really close to my goal of 2x body weight! That was with no straps either, but I think I might need some soon.

Congrats! That is really awesome. Now for 305...

One of the problems with getting bigger is that the 2X deadlift / squat keeps moving away...
