I noticed that the body shape of the Cazpar resembles a jazz bass style.

True - a bit more asymmetric but basically it is a modern JB interpretation

Actually there are some things I'd love to hear. I'd like to hear what it sounds like with both pups wide open especially in the lower register. I'd also like to hear what the thump/ slap tone sounds like. If you would be into making some reference vids or point me to some I'd greatly appreciate if.

My Elwood a few posts up arrived today, and it's awesome! Here's my own couch shot with the pickguard protector removed. It sounds and plays great, weighs just 7.2 lbs and balances perfectly - I went without the ultralite tuners and glad I did. The 32" scale feels just right.

There was one minor glitch upon arrival - the balance pot had a bad connection and the neck pickup would no longer engage after just one turn of the pot. I was able to bring it two towns over to my local store, who I recently learned is a Maruszczyk dealer, and they re-soldered it on the spot.

The outer strings needed a bit more intonation adjustment and action drop out of the box (unlocking the monorail saddles two ways with a slightly finicky hex wrench) but the rest of the setup was fine and the fit and finish are excellent.

Headless tuning gear can be quite heavy, it's just the bulk of the weight is at the other end of the body.

Yeah I have a custom headless with the ETS system that I got from Adrian I would say its about the same.

Unless you had 2 instruments made of the same peice of wood I think it would be hard to compare.

Yeah, headless weight is about the same... the beauty of the headless is how it balances, because the bridge weights down the back of the body and then there's no headstock to bang into mic-stands, cymbals, speakers, etc.

Thank you - and I thought I'd add that it was one of your posts in this thread a few years ago of a European Walnut top Elwood that influenced my second order - a walnut-topped Mensinger Cazpar 5 that should be here in a month or so!

Hey Bart, Yes Bruno Blue Burst. I went with the Maruszcyzk Tone Former 3 Band with Mid-Frequency switch and added the additional series/single/parallel switch for each of the Time Square P/U's. I heard a few samples, and it sounded close to the Delano Sonar which is rather transparent on my other Elwood 5A.
