It was my recall that the intonation screws do not change string height. I'll have to get mine out again. Been super busy lately, but I think I can answer you this weekend.

Pic of my modded Mezzo at an outdoor gig yesterday, temp of 93°, THI of 97°.

I am happy to report it did not melt or explode.

I finally found a brother for my Fender Japan medium scale Jazz. It's a Squier, but it was made on the same assembly line as the Fender-branded ones. There are a few bumps and bruises, but overall very clean for its age. Oddly, a few of the side markers are either missing or sunk into the neck. I'll get my luthier to fix that. I swapped the pickup for a Fralin +5, but I'll keep the original. Also had to add a strap lock. Otherwise it's stock.

The Mezzo is a great place to start and it can be upgraded as desired. I have the same color and I've upgraded the 2-band EQ to a 3-band, added a zero-fret nut. I gig it regularly, so at some point I will put more money into it. Maybe Nordstrand p'ups. I have a PBass with Nordstrands and they are pretty amazing. The tuners could be upgraded as well.

But I gigged the Mezzo as-is at the beginning and it did the job.

It's definitely nice to see that they decided to go along with Lynn Keller's idea of a lower-priced version after coming out with her signature 32" scale bass.

Yes to the scale, electronics, Maple fretboard, Zero Fret, and general presentation.

No to the PJ pups and nut width.

If they'd put 4 strings onto their 5 string neck, that would be more like it !
