Hey Frank Orlando, those Warwicks give me huge GAS. Do you string them lowB? Is it tight and well focused?

I string them both BEADG with a 125 B and a 105 E. The B is very tight and I think it has a lot to do with the way the string retainer is a distance from the bridge... like an Alembic 2 piece bridge. The B is not an issue at all and I hammer it playing modern rock. I use a 4Pro through any number of different Avatar cabs and it is solid and NEVER EVER farts out. My fvaorite setup is the 4Pro with two 8 ohm 2x10 Avatars. They are rated at 500 watts rms each and they eat 1,200 watts rms from the 4Pro all day and give a super punchy tone that literally makes other musicians have to ask how I get that tone. I am sold on Warwicks BUT... only with the ash bodies. Those exotic bubinga wood bodies weigh a ton and sound very middy and nasal for my taste.

I got another one... MIJ Squire P-Bass 1987. Great price considering that it has a new "vintage" style Fender case, Fender 62RI pickup (plus the original), TI Jazz Flats on it plus a new set of rounds and it's in fairly nice shape. $334 shipped...

Thanks. Most Spoilers are solid Koa, but mine has a Mahogony body with a Maple laminate and a Bocate top. After I got my SC and Series I the Spoiler sort-of got left to the side, but I've started playing it more recently. The 32" scale is very comfortable and this bass just feels good in your hands.

How difficult to find are these medium scale MIJ Squire Fenders?

I search eBay regularly and the 32" Squires show up a couple of times a year, maybe more. Keep looking... they are out there. The hard part is finding one that is un-molested and that is not over priced. Do a search on the "Bass for Sale" forum here on TalkBass too.

Mediumscale basses are so nice. The lower string tension give me the playing dynamics a longscale can't deliver and shortscales are just too wobbly IMO...

My main bass right now is an Ibanez GAXB, 32" just like the one in the first post I guess.

The pic is from when I just had it, I've made some mods:

- Lacquered the fretboard (brighter tone)
- Added a tonepot
- Removed the 3-position switch
- Added a FET-buffer with bypass miniswitch
- Changed most of the hardware to black (except for the tuners until now)
- Replaced the strapbutton to the heel

And it's GREAT !!! I am really flabbergasted by the quality of the bass, especially the pickup is great! Ibanez really did a good job on this one. It was made in China, 2006 and as far as I know it is not in production anymore

This is a frankenstein project, 32 1/2" scale. The neck is from my first bass ( a Condor from the eighties) an the body was of course Steinberger-inspired, but with an extra curve as a thumbrest and a less symmetrical body for better balance and easier playing of the upper positions.

It's a mess, really, but right now it has 2 jazz pickups wired in series and still plays and sounds surprisingly good.

This one is frequently played by my 7-year old son, because it's really light and he just likes to play bass!

If I can find the time I will make a new body for it (same shape)

This is my medium scale. Manufacturer is Magnus Krempel. It is a really nice looking piece of wood. Just my two cents.

NEXT: I went to North Carolina twice and hand picked the top and fingerboard wood for the Roscoe Customs. First, Roscoe 32" with Midi System, spalted purpleheart chocolate and vanilla fingerboard, LED's on position markers, spanish cedar body and buckeye burl top,

NEXT: Had to have an acoustic so I had Rob Allen out of Santa Barbara make me a mouse, with 30" scale. I picked out the wood here too, mahogany body, spalted AND flamed maple top, birds eye maple neck and DARK rosewood (looks like ebony but ebony was too clacky) fingerboard. She is a honey. Also have LED's in the neck to see the fingerboard when the light man falls asleep.

NEXT: identical Roscoe 32" with birdseye maple top, had to have a spare for when I break a string onstage and

LAST: Stu Hamm Original Fender Urge with the 32" scale neck.

Anyone who has a FENDER MIJ P Bass or J Bass with a 32" neck, I am in the market for one. Hit me back with the details.
