Looks like the guys here know the story. When Norm started touring with Lincoln Brewster, he was afraid his original MTD would get lost/stolen/damaged, so he had a "clone" made. He played it on tour until Mike made him the Saratoga bass, then he sold it. He preferred the original one, so this one became expendable.
