The body is swamp ash (which I'd requested in order to keep the weight down) and the neck/fingerboard are wenge. Unlike most of the wenge necks I've played this one has been treated in a way that's resulted in it's being super-smooth to the touch. The stain is "Van Dyke brown". I went down to Kingston to pick it up last week. As usual, Mike and Charlie (Mike's assistant) were great to deal with and, as usual, it was almost painful to behold all of the other beautiful basses at various stages of completion! One of the perks was getting to see Dave Holland in person when he stopped by the shop.

My "new to me" MTD 535 weighs 8.2 lbs. It has Alder body, an Arbutis burl top, maple neck and bird's eye fingerboard. It has that nice "open" tone that I love.

No developments on the blueburst 535, I think it sold already. I'm searching for a MTD 635 now. I have a really nice Benavente 6 string to trade.

Any time.... I almost got that combo in 534.. If I get another one built it will be that combo you have now that I should have kelp :-(...
