I recently sold an alder/maple neck-rosewood 535-24 that weighed an honest to gosh 8.4 lbs. My fretless 535-24 is also 8.4lbs. Mike can build them very light when inclined.

about the scale issue. A "bathroom" scale isn't accurate at all, especially on lower weights. What I do is to weight my self, once alone and once with the bass (than do the math). Still not very accurate, but more than just weighting the bass alone

I had my first full volume rehearsal with my MTD 535 tonight and I am super happy with this bass. It cuts perfectly (guitar, drums and keys), sounds just amazing (funk, rock, blues and metal).... And is so light!
Used one Berg cab with my Crest power amp and Monique pre (in pic below).

I heard Mike is using gold frets (Evo Gold maybe?) lately in his basses. Anyone can confirm this?

This is all I use now, you can't beat it and I think just about every bass maker will eventually offer it since it make so much sense from a wear standpoint.

Just got confirmation from Glenn at Austin Bass Traders, Mike is now using EVO Gold as standard. So, there you go

Me too. Mike uses such nice wood that it seems a shame to cover it up, but I guess Wiz Khalifa disagrees!
