Yikes, haha if it was a Kingston I would give it a crack but it's a US Super. I'll reach out to MTD and see if they would mind wiring it up like yours.

Just look at the Bart wiring from their site - it's red and black to do what I described instead of red and white, as I recall. The Super (US) pickups use the standard Bart wire color coding.

I love seeing the multiples…

I like them all! I definitely see another in my future, but not sure when or what. To be fair, I should have 2 right now, but I made a really poor choice. Oh well, live and learn.

Along the lines of the next bass, does anyone have experience/opinions with the Justin Raines or Andrew Gouche models??

Am I understanding correctly that out of the artist models, only the Norm Stockton pickups are unique (that is, they're kinda like Super pups but tweaked a bit)? Whereas all the other sig pickups are exactly the same as the regular MTDs (or Super, or B axis pups).

I recall Lynn Keller saying that the neck pickup on her signature model was overwound to sound more like a P pickup when soloed, but it was unclear if that was a variation of a stock bartolini that's generally available, or a special winding just for the LK.

Norm's pickups were actually what ended up turning into the 2J squared pickups, which are quad coil. The supers are duals and the normal MTD pickups are super underwound reverse p CB coils. The normal MTD preamp is voiced like the NTMB+FL, while the super pre is the NTMB+F.

I see, thanks for the rundown of the pickups. So technically Norm's pickups are hum cancelling when solo-ed, but the Super pickups aren't?

Not quite, Norm's pickups can be split to "j" coils and still be hum-cancelling when solo'd. The super are hum-cancelling in normal function, but once you split them (outer coil mode) the pickups will have hum when solo'd.

That black quilted maple top is b e a utiful. Loaded with Aggies? Never seen that on an MTD. Factory install or did you do it yourself?

About a month before my fiftieth, I was scrolling reverb looking for Pbass pickups. Knowing Aguilar makes pups, I searched Aguilar Pickups, and this popped up on top. Showed it to my wife and got a disinterested shrug, not exactly uncharacteristic, but just enough for a (dim) lightbulb to go off. She had already seen it, and was planning on getting it for my birthday. A few days later, she told me about it because the listing had ended, and she missed it. Didn't show as sold, so I messaged the seller. Turns out, it was Dave Avenius, of Aguilar. I've spoken to Dave on a few occasions (same industry), so reached out directly, and it was still available. Hot Damn!

Long story longer, Dave put them in when they were testing the then-new Aggy pups/preamp, not quite 'factory installed', but close!

It's #530, Korina body, Maple Top, Wenge neck, Ebony board. Has "Built for Dave Avenius" on the back of the headstock.

It's pretty special, and my wife is forever without reproach!
