I can highly recommend Get Back. It's a hard watch at times...there's a lot of messing about, but overall it's a fine display of genius at work.
And yes, a penguin it is.

What kind of strings are you using on your Rumblekat? I've got LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass flatwounds on mine.

Currently, I've got GHS 3020 Precision Flats. 45-95. I'm pretty happy with them, but not 100%.
Might treat myself to a Pyramid Gold or Hofner set next.

I think those of us who've suffered through our own band's less great rehearsals probably had the toughest time getting through Get Back. It's the in depth view of Beatles studio work I've always been eager to experience but I didn't expect that much goofing around. I recently listened to the audiobook "Tune In", highly recommend it.

Question - I suspect some here might have also played the Hofner Ignition Club bass. How does it compare with the Rumblekat? With the RS88S strings the Rumblekat sounds to me a lot like what I've heard on YouTube videos of people playing Ignition Club basses.

I tried two Ignition Club basses in one of my local shops, about a year and half ago. I also am a Rumblekat owner. Here's my impressions:

1. Rumblekat has much better pickups. When I tried the Club Ignitions in the store, I played them through the same amp that I use at home (they just happened to have one in the store), and the Clubs were anemic. Lower output, thinner sound; the Rumblekat absolutely rumbles by comparison.

2. The build quality on Rumblekat also is better. When I worked those little switches on the Club Ignitions (the "solo" and "rhythm" switches, I think they're called), the switches felt like they were going to break. Maybe they wouldn't have, but they felt flimsy.

3. The Rumblekat also felt more solid to me. This probably relates to weight -- the Club Ignitions were light as a feather compared to the Rumblekat. That's the only plus the Club Ignitions had for me.

I went to that store because I wanted to try, and hopefully buy, a Club Ignition, but that experience changed my mind about them.

Of course, others may have a very different opinion.

Right, I saw that. I recently tried the RS88s on my Ibanez Mikro bass, and they sounded great but they also exerted a lot of pull on the neck, so I had to adjust the truss rod to compensate.

The Rumblekat neck didn't need any adjustment. I think these strings, like the TI Flats, have lower string tension than the roundwounds that came with the bass. BTW, what strings come on the bass? They seemed like a 105 set of GHS roundwounds.

I don't know what brand of strings come on the Rumblekat, but they are 50-105, so your guess about GHS could be right. Good to hear the 88s didn't pull on the neck.
