thanks, it has been a long hard search to find the basses that suited me best (but i've loved the process, and got to own and play basses that i only dreamed about). there's actually one final (hopefully) change to the lineup and then we'll be done and my quest will be over. the mtd, although a stunnning instrument in sight and sound, it just isn't me. i'm really close to swapping it out for something more my tastes.

from Denmark, eh...i imagine Mørchs are everywhere? i'd kill to visit the shop...but being in NY has it's advantages too
. i worked in a failed high-end bass shop for a spell several years ago when it was first starting out, and the day we got our first Mørch was the day that i could definitively say that there was a 'best bass in the shop' - we had a 5 string SC that blew away everything else (foderas, mtds, ritters, marleaux, aries, schack, etc etc etc). one popped up locally on craigslist and i immediately sold my Lull M4V and anything else not nailed down to buy my 6 string curl. the fretless was a wedding present from my wife.
i've since realized that although johnny mørch is amazing, there are many other master luthiers out there and trying to compare is really like comparing apples and oranges. no reason why you can't enjoy eating both. the rivera blows me away every time i touch it and now the Pavel...oh my lord. no matter what, i cannot see ever parting with my 6 string Curl, the Rivera, or the Pavel.

you need to come out to next year's international TB gtg and check them all out. however, we will not allow you into the room unless you have that Platinum Ritter with you (talk about one of a kind instruments!).
BLATANT ADVERTISEMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TB GTG WARNING:::this is what happens at the GTG, we hang out for a full day, play all sorts of awesome basses, meet cool people, drink LOTS of beer, eat amazing food...oh and did i mention play all sorts of awesome basses (that you can't get a chance to play usually anywhere else)...

as for the CT, i have strong hopes that it will be ready before the end of the year. i know that the semi-frills line is almost fully complete (i think mine is the only 5 string in the batch) and pretty much all of the basses will be finished around the same time, except for a few (which unfortunately, i believe that my bass is part of). all the necks are carved though. and that's the lion's share of the work as i understand it.
if you want to order a CT, you should go for it. the wait is pretty intense right now but that gives you time to save up for it...you can put $20 away a week, and by the time it is ready, you'll have enough to buy the bass AND a sandwhich. stuff has been coming out of the shop pretty regularly and the current crew (kelvin, pete hilton, carl) is probably the best crew that's ever been there. plus carl's work only gets better as time passes, he never rests in improving his work, really inspiring guy.
