Live show at Big Mama's last Saturday night in Seymour TN

NICE! Sportin the talkbass T shirt no less!

and vic, really beautiful collection. i totally understand the variety thing (as most of us here do), but i gotta ask...which is the go to at the moment? which would be the one you'd be buried with?

i think that j turner and t bowlus MUST post detailed closeups of all their instruments. if the TB crew won't go for the bandwidth usage why not set up a photobucket album or something and just link it? we're dying to really get a look at your collections.

Thanks! And thankfully, the decision is not quite as hard as you might think. For one thing, I've found that certain basses and certain configurations of my amps/cabs will work better for certain rooms, so depending on what band I'm playing with and where, I generally gravitate automatically towards a subset of my stuff.

The other thing that makes it easy is, I always bring at least two basses, and many times three... changing with the sets, so I don't have to pick just one. This is also how I learn what works best with what and where, etc.

That said, I'd have to generally say that a Skjold and an MTD most often go with. :)

which would be the one you'd be buried with?
That's hard to say, but probably between my latest MTD and one of my Skjolds.

That would be a LOT of work, especially for Tom, but boy would I love to see that!

LOL, I have been trying to figure out for a while how to do a 'family shot', and the problem is finding room to fit all those basses in one group photo. :D

Maybe the series of single bass closeups is a happy compromise. I'll just need two or three buddies to help me run the 'assembly line' photo shoot.

I was talking about the series of individual shots. A family photo would look like a large class picture... lots of postage stamp sized basses. It might be interesting, but not nearly as much as a series of closer shots. :D

You asked for it.

:volunteers to be on the assemly line:

i can hear it already...

TBowlus: what's the hold-up? we gotta get this photo shoot done already...

cosmic: oh, just a second, this bass is so sweet...gimme another minute, i just want to plug it in for a second and check out the tone.

TBowlus: this is the 30th bass in a row that you've said that

:hiding:

Hi!

Received the bass yesterday...I'm speechless...perfect instrument. It's a Status-graphite S2 neck-through with quilted maple top. Incredible sound...

Sorry for the poor quality of pics :

it's one thing if you are showing a few basses in one post, but isn't that a little over kill on pix? Not like that is a Fodera or vintage Fender, can't you get a Schecter or a Dean at a GC across town?

Yes, but not these Deans, they are Limited Run not GC knockabouts! Plus, I thought this was a Bass Forum and the Thread did say show your Basses. :hmm::confused:

I will try to keep my number of Pics down in the future unless it is a Vintage Fender or Fodera.

From left to right:

2007 Fender FSR Standard Jazz Bass: Made In Mexico with ash body and Sapphire Blue finish. It's strung with Rotosound Swing66 Eventually I'll upgrade it with Fender Custom Shop 60's pickups.

2007 Squier Affinity Precision Bass: Crafted In Indonesia. It's strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies. The Affinity series are hit-or-miss in terms of QC and I happened to get one with NO flaws except for one. No matter how high my action is on my bass, the 18th fret on the A string buzzes, but it dosen't do that on the E, D, or G strings. Well it's minor because I'll rarely play anything that uses 18th fret on the A string. I'd just move it to the 13th fret on the G string. I just ordered Fender 1962 Precision Bass pickups to replace those Squier ones. Eventually I'll add a brown tortoise pickguard to spice up its looks since I'm not too keen on the generic and bland black body+white pickguard.

2007 Squier VM 70's Tele Bass: Crafted In Indonesia. It's craftmanship is better than the Affinity but not quite as good as my MIM. This has the BEST Precision bass neck I have felt. It's satin-finished, big, and chunky...... But that's where my love for this thing ends. It sounds like a Gibson EB-0, but with clarity thanks to its Basswood body with Ash veneers and its maple neck. If I were in a Cream-like band setting then it'd do fine, but that's not the type of tone I desire. It's a one-trick-pony. I might sell it and get some Custom Shop pickups for my jazz.

Come on, you know what I mean.

In excess of 6 or 7 pix of the same bass is overkill, regardless of the brand, value or vintage.

It's Paul's bandwidth I'm concerned with, not you shooting your Limited run/Special model/deluxe blah blah blah Dean from every angle known to man.
