Newb here (both at TB and the Bass). This is my first bass I just got for Xmas. Learning to play now. I know this is nothing compared to most of the pictures on here but I love learning on it.

Quick question--I read on reviews that the stock strings aren't great that a lot of people upgrade right away. Any thoughts on this?

Nice looking bass. In my experience, stock strings are very rarely worth keeping. I've always changed the strings on any new bass. Usually makes a world of difference.

Well, what kind of tone are you going for? Rock, like something from Red Hot Chili Peppers or Incubus, or a flat tone dead old school Zeppelin and Motown?

If they're okay with you, they're okay. If you change them, what will you change them to?

You're still learning, I wouldn't recommend getting hung up on strings yet.

Good question-- I would say more of a funk, jazz, motown, type of sound. I really like Bela Fleck and the flecktones if that helps at all.

You could always use Fodera Strings. Wooten plays Fodera basses and strings, and the strings sound great, feel great, they're hand wound and they have incredible customer service. I love em.

Theyll be expensive. I say buy here, on the TB Classifieds, so if you dont like em, youre not losing too much cash.

They're not too expensive on juststrings. I payed more for a 5-string set of Chromes than i would if i bought Foderas.
