Semi-acoustic (Samick HFB-590)
Hey there, beeing a semi-acoustic, shouldn't there be pickups?
Hey there, nice bass! I have one question... knowing what some companies ask for their basses... I'd like to know how much does it cost you to build a bass just like that. Just the money spent on materials (no hand-work)
Hello Srdsrd, thanks for the compliment, building an instrument doesnT cost that much, Pickups are the main thing, for these I pay around 200$ ( EMG come with all the pots and jacks... very nice) , all the hardware , machine head, bridge can vary depending on quality and brands, I think I put around 250 on this one ,
The woods comes from salvage furniture project, so it didnT cost anyting . So here you go, 450... and around 40 hours of labor. Here is a 6 string project goign on in the shop:
Thanks a lot for the clarification! It must feel realy good to build something like that for ourselves!I know someone who is a carpenter, and I wish I new that person better so he coud give me a hand on something like this
So I guess that, for someone not experienced, because of the frets the neck is something that should actualy be bought beforehand. I can see you are shaping the neck yourself on that 6er your building
good luck and post the result for us!

It was a literally bunch of junk.
A few details about the bass -
It features :

....a bridge made from 2 acorn nuts and a threaded rod
... a control plate made from a plate that joins 2x4's in construction sites
...a pickup ring made from a light switch plate
...a shower drain strainer for the sound hole
.... strap buttons made from license plate screws and washers
